Sunday’s church bombing in Danville, Illinois should surprise no one.
While preaching “tolerance” for their own views, America’s
pro-abortionists, homosexuals, and Hollywood’s prime-time television
pornographers have been busy demonizing Christians — the last remaining
roadblock to social acceptance for their particular brand of perversion.
The mainline media, largely devoid of Christian influence and
understanding (say nothing of tolerance), have willingly joined in the
smear campaign.

Demonization is a time-honored technique of propagandists. Demonizing
the enemy during wartime makes it easier for your soldiers to kill the
opposing army’s soldiers. After all, they’re not really human — they’re
Chinks, or Nips, or dozens of other names chosen to mask any resemblance
to other human beings. After you’ve renamed them, pile on dozens of
inflammatory practices, most originated in the mind of the propagandist.
Above all, make certain they threaten the values that those you are
arming hold near and dear.

The demonization of Christians began with reporting about religious
cults. By picking small, fringe groups, the propagandist is likely to
achieve his aim: few will dispute his information or speak up against
his tactics. Once the fringe group is demonized, other targets of the
propagandist can be linked to the practices of the fringe group. The
linkage need not be true. The more authority the propagandist has (e.g.
government spokespersons, “extremist” tracking groups), the more
successful the linkage and subsequent demonization will be.

What demonization does require is a very naive or openly complicit
press. The mainline press in America has been going down this road for a
long time. Only recently have their efforts borne fruit, however. In the
Randy Weaver case, reporters’ willingness to help the government smear
Mr. Weaver and his family as “White Separatists” enabled the FBI to put
a sniper’s bullet through Mrs. Weaver’s head, shattering her skull and
splattering her brains over the baby she held in her arms on her front
porch.

“So what?” the nation responded. They were dirty “White Separatists.”
Did that mean they deserved to be murdered? Although the FBI violated
its own internal guidelines in the shooting, as well as the U.S.
Constitution, and then followed with a cover-up of their actions in
federal court, another federal judge in Idaho recently ruled the FBI’s
sniper did nothing wrong.

Ditto in Waco. In the case of the Branch Davidians, false information
about child abuse (Texas authorities had already ruled it out) was
circulated to the press. Reporters eagerly spread the false accusations,
successfully demonizing the Davidians. The end result? There was no
public outcry when an army of federal agents violated the historic Posse
Comitatus law by bringing in tanks to overrun the Davidians’ property,
or when they pumped CS gas in lethal quantities into the residence to
permanently silence the Davidians. When a fire engulfed the Davidians’
property, some 80 men, women, and children were incinerated. Evidence of
the Davidians’ “crimes” has never been made public. The American press
never whimpered. Joseph Goebbels would have been proud.

Imagine, for a moment, if Randy Weaver had been a “black separatist,”
or the Branch Davidians merely a group of innocent practicing
homosexuals “not hurting anybody.” Do you think the reaction in the
press might have been different? Would reporters have accepted being
herded over a mile away from the action, denied access to telephone
transcripts of the negotiations, and satisfied with press releases
crafted by federal agents? I think not.

With the Danville bombing, evil is simply coming out of the closet.
The frenzied rantings of pro-abortionists, homosexual “rights” groups,
and the purveyors of sex and violence masquerading as “entertainment” in
Hollywood owe their allegiance to a very different god than the One whom
Christians worship. Their hostility to Christians — now manifesting
itself in the excitement of murderous attacks against this nation’s
churches — is to be expected. It will probably escalate. Their goal is
clearly stated in the Old Testament:

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel
together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, let us
break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us (Psalm 2).

So also is God’s response clearly recorded in the same Psalm: “He
that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in
derision.”

The New Age that the Christian-haters so fervently seek to usher in
was described some 2,000 years ago by the Apostle John in the book of
Revelation. Their new home in this “new age” is somewhat different than
America’s Christian-haters imagine:

The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured
out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he [Satan and
his followers] shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the
presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and
they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image,
and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name (Rev. 14:10-11).

May God have mercy on our nation, even as we pay the price for
turning our backs on Him.
