Sen. Harry Reid’s, D-Nev., arrogantly racist condemnation of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is but the latest racial tinged hate speech directed at conservative blacks by liberal Democrats. His Uncle Bull Connors and his Uncle Orval Faubus must be proud of him.
Reid’s comments should surprise no one – repulse, sicken and anger, yes, but surprise, no. He is simply being true to his inbred familial heritage. Mormons believed, as Reid’s comments indicate he still does: “Cain slew his brother … and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin” (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 7, pages 290-291).
Mormon General Authority, Alvin R. Dyer said: “… God is not unjust to curse a righteous spirit to be born as a cursed member of the black race … the reason that spirits are born in Negro bodies is because those spirits rejected the priesthood of God” (Alvin R. Dyer at Missionary Conference, Oslo, Norway March 18, 1961; “The Negro in Mormon Theology,” pages 48-58).
Mormon Apostle Pratt said: “They [blacks] are kept in reserve in order to come forth to receive such a degraded parentage upon the earth” (Journal of Discourse, Vol.1, p.63).
Joseph Feilding Smith wrote: “He [Cain] become the father of an inferior race.” (The Way of Perfection, p. 101) Smith posited that blacks were born so because, unlike the white Reid’s, blacks weren’t obedient in their prior estate. (Doctrines of Salvation, Vol. 1, p.61)
As a black man, I am insulted by his racist comments, notwithstanding from a man whose tenets of faith include “blacks have a black heart,” (Times and Seasons, Vol. 6, p. 857); “that blacks have dishonorable bodies,” (Elder Orson Hyde, April 27, 1845); the book of Mormon is replete with references to the accursed mark of Cain upon blacks.
We begin now to understand the nidus of the low opinion pithecanthropinean spirochetes like Reid and Maureen Dowd foster.
Reid is as absent of courage as he is filled with racial bigotry – when invited to be a guest on my show to discuss his comments, his camp fell back on the well used, “He will be traveling that day.” Personally, I think he should be traveling for the same reasons Tom Daschle finds himself traveling, but I digress.
Reid could have appeared to answer the following:
- Do you think your comments were racially insensitive, at a time such premium is placed on sensitivity?
- Why do you suppose that Robert Byrd, D-Wash., Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., and Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., can make comments – that I as a black man, many blacks and many others are offended by – with impunity?
- Would you make similar reference to a homosexual? If the answer is no, is it because you respect your garden-variety homosexual above a sitting black Supreme Court Justice?
- On what do you base your opinion of Justice Thomas’ written opinions? Cite a specific case in support of your comments. And if he is an embarrassment, why isn’t Justice Scalia?
- Do you think you should apologize for your comments, or did you mean them?
Of course, liberal whites who practice bigotry are quick to fall back on their track record on civil rights. The problem is, the things they support are designed to keep blacks on their ideological plantation of servitude, indebtedness and dependence upon them. If they were truly for blacks, they would champion meritocracy even if they disagreed with policy.
Reid can hide behind travel tales, he can reference a faux civil-rights record, he can appear where he is lauded for his comments. But the very next time I am asked my thoughts about his jaundiced comments, my reply is going to be:
Sen. Reid is a pernicious little person, with a pretentious moral compass, who embodies all of that which is negatively attributed to the adherents of his faith, who, like his Democrat counterparts, doesn’t have the guts to just come out and call Justice Thomas a “dumb nigger” and instead uses racist innuendo.
Unlike the big screen “Gollum” who fed on fish and goblins, he feeds on the good reputations of those he views as beneath him. He is the mirror image of Bull Connors, who tried to crush the spirit of black children by blocking school house doors and beating them. Reid and his kind do the same thing by verbally lynching upstanding blacks who refuse to bow before the throne of Democrat dependency.”
You see, Harry, where I come from we say what we mean. We don’t hide behind racist innuendo and bus trips.
