Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton should stay out of the 2008 presidential race because she is too sexy to win, says actress Sharon Stone.

Stone, 48, believes the 58-year-old New York Democrat has an intimidating sexuality that will cost her votes, according to Hollywood Life magazine.

“I think Hillary Clinton is fantastic, but I think it is too soon for her to run (for president),” Stone told the magazine.

Stone contended a woman should be “past her sexuality” when she runs for the highest office.

“Hillary still has sexual power, and I don’t think people will accept that,” she said. “It’s too threatening.”

While Stone is urging Clinton to wait, singer Madonna wants her to jump into the race, the newspaper Australian said, quoting Out magazine.

“I don’t think now is necessarily her time, or the Democrats’ time, but she should certainly go for it,” Madonna said.

“You’ve got to start somewhere in terms of a woman leading the U.S. In Europe and Asia and elsewhere, women have ruled over millions. It’s not an abstract concept.

“But in America, men are still afraid,” Madonna continued. “And I don’t think women are too comfortable with the idea of a female in charge.”

Actress Susan Sarandon, however, known for her political activism, said earlier this month she viewed Hillary as a “great disappointment,” because she didn’t vote against the Iraq war.

“She’s lost her progressive following because of her caution and centrist approach,” Sarandon said.

“It bothered me when she voted for the war. There were brave people who didn’t. She’s not worse than other politicians, but I hoped she would be better.

“What America is looking for is authentic people.”
