Having argued before the high court, as well as several state supreme courts and courts of appeal, Farris brings immeasurable depth and experience to the constitutional issues affecting Americans in the 21st century.
"Michael Farris is one of the top legal minds in the nation and a hero to the homeschooling community," said WND Editor and CEO Joseph Farah. "His keen analyses of Supreme Court action will provide WND readers with the ammunition they need to fight the cultural battles we face."
Farris, the father of 10, founded the Home School Legal Defense Association in 1983. The chief advocacy organization for American homeschooling families, HSLDA has grown to over 80,000 member families with a staff of 60.
In 2000, Farris became the founding president of Patrick Henry College. PHC is the only higher educational institution in the nation in which a majority of the students were home-educated. It is a four-year Christian college with the mission of training students through a classical liberal arts curriculum and apprenticeship methodology to impact the world "for Christ and for Liberty." After serving as president of PHC for six academic years, Farris recently transitioned into the role of chancellor. He continues to teach Constitutional Law and coach the PHC Moot Court team.
Farris has written over a dozen books, including three novels, a constitutional law textbook and works on marriage, parenting, homeschooling, political advocacy and religious liberty. His daily radio program, "Home School Heartbeat," airs on several hundred stations nationwide. Farris was ordained in 1983 and currently serves as an elder for Blue Ridge Bible Church.
Residing in Purcellville, Va., Farris and his wife, Vickie, have homeschooled their family since 1982 and have 10 children and eight grandchildren.
Rather than appear on a specific day of the week, Farris' columns for WND will be published as developments at the Supreme Court warrant.
