LOS ANGELES – Islamofascists 1, Random House 0. That’s the conclusion reached by WND's Joseph Farah on learning that the publishing giant had bowed to Islamic pressure groups regarding a novel centered around the life of Muhammad’s first wife.
"It's a disgraceful decision," asserts Farah, "particularly in view of the fact that WND Books earlier this year released 'Why We Left Islam: Former Muslims Speak Out' (WND Books, ISBN 9780979267109, April 29) – a far more incendiary book that actually features a picture of Muhammad on its cover."
Despite intense pressure from the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), WND Books released the book as planned.
Unlike the Random House title, "Why We Left Islam: Former Muslims Speak Out" is no novel, but it wasn’t just the shocking testimonies of the book's 23 contributors detailing Islam’s violent, oppressive nature that put the book squarely on CAIR's censorious radar. The cover art for "Why We Left Islam" literally depicts a medieval Muhammad mosaic breaking in two. Such depictions of the Muslim prophet are considered blasphemous and worthy of death by some Islamic sects.
Continues Farah, "This cover is a first for an American publisher and puts the editors and contributors squarely in harm's way. But we moved ahead because the testimonies in 'Why We Left Islam' are simply too important to be censored."
Farah believes that Americans must learn the ugly truth about Islam – a truth that CAIR and the Islamic pressure groups who forced Random House to submit don't want revealed.
