Corsi challenges Obama response

Sen. Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, claims Jerome Corsi, the author of the New York Times No. 1 best-seller “The Obama Nation,” was “just makin’ stuff up.”
But the Illinois senator thought the issues revealed in the book important enough to write a 40-page response and publicize it. The author has now, however, confirmed he’s taken Obama’s new explanations to task in a 70-page document he will release exclusively on WND later this week.
The personal attack from Obama came, according to a McClatchy Newspapers report, during a campaign stop shortly after the book was released and rocketed to the top of the best-sellers list.
Obama told the crowd: “I don’t find myself particularly scary or particularly risky, but I mean, they’re good at it. So they’ve got these ads with Paris [Hilton] and Britney [Spears] and they’ve got some guy who just wrote a book. He just makin’ stuff up, just makes stuff up. But it gets a lot of play on Fox News. After a while people starting thinking, ‘God, he does have a funny name,’ or believing false rumors about me they get in e-mails about Obama’s religion or patriotism.”
The reference to “some guy” is Corsi, the senior staff writer for WND who wrote “The Obama Nation,” an in-depth report explaining why the U.S. senator from Illinois should not be president.
In his initial response, Corsi appeared on the Fox News Channel’s “Hannity & Colmes” and said Obama is coming unglued.
“If he can’t handle a book and the First Amendment, if he’s in the Oval Office, all the enemies of the United States need to do to rattle him is to publish a cartoon about him or write a book,” he said.
“Every minute the Obama campaign obsesses on me, they’re off-message and they’re not answering the fundamental charges I made in the book.”
Critics dismissed the book as inaccurate and misleading. But Corsi told WND his 70-page response will be available on WND as soon as a review is completed. (Note: If you wish to be the first to know Corsi’s response to Obama, sign up for WND’S free news alerts.)
Fox News co-host Alan Colmes pointed out Corsi has previously written negative reports about Republicans. That came in Corsi’s book “The Late Great USA,” which became a New York Times best-seller, too.
The book charges the federal government’s unwillingness to enforce immigration laws and border security is, at least in part, a result of plans to promote political, social and economic integration of the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
Corsi also co-authored the No. 1 New York Times best-seller “Unfit for Command,” which many credit with having cost John Kerry the presidency in the 2004 election.
