Dr. Alan Keyes
Just as Barack Obama’s Aug. 4 birthday is approaching, a law firm handling one of the legal challenges to his eligibility to be president is arranging for a fax blast to attorneys general in all 50 states pointing out their obligation to investigate possible perjury during the 2008 election.
The fax messages cite evidence that suggests Obama may have been born in what now is Kenya.
“But the United States Constitution clearly says only a ‘natural born citizen’ may be elected president,” the message states. “I hope and pray that you will do your duty by fully investigating whether Barack Obama committed perjury, or violated another state law … by falsely claiming that he was constitutionally eligible to serve as president of the United States!”
The message to attorneys general says, “It is critical that your office fully investigate whether Barack Obama was born in Hawaii or not, for the answer to this question is the crux of the matter, and is of the utmost importance for the resolution of this extremely important constitutional issue.
“Your duty as state attorney general requires you to fully and faithfully enforce the laws of [your state]. If Barack Obama did indeed falsify his nomination papers – as appears likely, he must be brought to account. …”
The organization said in its promotion that according to published reports, “Barack Obama’s legal team has been paid over one million dollars, so far, to stop anyone from seeing any of his actual identification documents, or many other documents.”
Its case, which is pending on appeal, originally sought to obtain Obama’s records from California’s Occidental College.
“The issue of the Occidental College records is especially pertinent. The United States Justice Foundation served officials at Occidental College with a subpoena to produce records concerning Barack Obama’s attendance there during the 1980′s, because those records could document whether he was attending as a foreign national,” the report said.
“You see, Mr. Obama attended the school on a scholarship – and there are questions as to whether the financial aid he received was reserved for foreign students. The Obama attorneys have bent over backward to block us. He doesn’t want anyone to see those records. He’s still trying to hide them; those financial records still have not been released.”
But those records are far from all of the documentation that has been withheld. Besides the original birth certificate for Obama, unavailable documentation includes his passport files, his articles at the University of Chicago law school, Harvard Law Review articles, Harvard Law School records, Columbia University records, Columbia University senior thesis, Punahou school records, elementary records, files and schedules for his work as an Illinois state senator, his client list, Illinois State Bar records, baptism records, marriage records for his parents, divorce records for his parents, records of his mother’s second marriage and records of any adoption by his stepfather.
“What is Barack Obama trying to hide? What is he afraid of? Why doesn’t he just release these documents to prove that he is a natural-born citizen and, therefore, qualified to serve as president — especially his actual birth certificate?” the USJF asked.
“Isn’t it time we forced him to come clean? His ‘birthday’ is the perfect time to do it.”
The organization’s lawsuit on behalf of Keyes challenges Obama’s eligibility to be on the ballot in California.
Among the pieces of information that raise questions about his eligibility are his refusal to release his birth certificate, conflicting claims by his half-sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, about which hospital he was born in, and his own contradictions regarding that facility.
Further, it was suspicious that law enforcement officers were posted at two Honolulu hospitals to prevent reporters from trying to obtain information about his birth, and a telephone conversation with his step-grandmother contains an allegation she was present at his birth in Kenya.
“The evidence demands that Barack Obama answer why he has been hiding the truth from the American people about his eligibility to run for, and serve as, president!” the USJF said.
The fax campaign targets the specific paperwork political candidates file in each state to be on the ballot. Most, if not all, he explained, include an affirmation that the candidate is eligible to hold the office.
“If he falsely filed those papers, that’s perjury,” Kreep said. “It is a criminal act and should be prosecuted.”
WND has reported on dozens of legal challenges to Obama’s status as a “natural born citizen.” The Constitution, Article 2, Section 1, states, “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President.”
Some of the lawsuits question whether he was actually born in Hawaii, as he insists. If he was born out of the country, Obama’s American mother, the suits contend, was too young at the time of his birth to confer American citizenship to her son under the law at the time.
Other challenges have focused on Obama’s citizenship through his father, a Kenyan subject to the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom at the time of his birth, thus making him a dual citizen. The cases contend the framers of the Constitution excluded dual citizens from qualifying as natural born.
Further, others question his citizenship by virtue of his attendance in Indonesian schools during his childhood and question on what passport did he travel to Pakistan three decades ago.
Adding fuel to the fire is Obama’s persistent refusal to release documents that could provide answers. While his supporters cite an online version of a “Certification of Live Birth” from Hawaii, critics point out such documents actually were issued for children not born in the state.
