The multiple crimes of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan have sentenced all of us to a long period of anguished debate about “What we should do about Muslims.” That’s assuming there will be an urgency to replace our present policy of nothingness tightly wrapped in political correctness.
You hear, “Islam is a religion of peace!” and you also hear “Every page of their Quran exhorts them to ‘Kill the infidels – the Christians and Jews!'” I don’t recall an argument ever where so much rich ground in the middle has been ignored.
Do you remember the old liberal mantra that “Poverty causes crime.” It collapsed. Too many dirt-poor people around the world are honest and too many disgusting thieves strike like cobras out of the middle and upper classes.
Try this! – “Crime expands to fill our willingness to put up with it.” And let’s lift that over to crimes like the many murders of Maj. Hasan. Jihad also expands to fill our willingness to put up with it.
If it’s any consolation, liberal western Europe is worse than we are. They know they’ve lost control of their Islamic population and they’re terrified, helpless and ashamed, from Sweden down through Holland and France and over to Britain and down to Spain. All eyes are on America now.
A jaw-dropping expose on the six-month undercover operation that revealed the true terror-supporting nature of CAIR: “Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That’s Conspiring to Islamize America.” It’s also available in electronic form at reduced price through Scribd.
Christianity and Judaism have outgrown their earlier grotesqueries. Islam has simply refused to budge. They remain spiritually flat-tired and broken-axled in the 12th century. It is absurd to say Islam is a religion of peace. It’s just as absurd to say all of them want to kill all of us.
Of the more-or-less billion Muslims in the world, there is a large segment that does want to kill us all. They are wildly outnumbered, fortunately, by all the millions of Muslims who don’t want to kill anybody but don’t want to open their mouths for fear of getting their throats slit. Many Americans have died to save Muslims over the past 18 years in Bosnia, Kosovo, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan and Somalia. We have opportunities inside Islam. Millions of Muslims would love for America to win the war on terror, but they’re intimidated; paralyzed. And they get nothing but betrayal from America’s president.
Don’t we admire those brilliant strategists down through history who did the old “divide and conquer”? Look at the battlefield. The Bosnian Muslims of Europe are ethnically identical to our Croatian friends in McKeesport, Pa., and our Serbian friends in Chicago. It just happens that their part of the “Old Country” – Yugoslavia – was occupied for 400 years by the Turks who Islamized them. So was Albania. And don’t forget Indonesia, with the world’s largest Muslim population. They smoke and drink, and, except for the terrorists who make the bad headlines, the great majority of Indonesians never give terrorist killers a kindly thought.
I can’t recall one single case of a German-American, an Italian-American or a Japanese-American attacking other Americans, civilian or military, all throughout World War II. And Maj. Hasan took down over a dozen of us. It’s time to tighten up.
The British used to promulgate “White Papers.” We Americans preferred “Doctrines.” Take your choice. It’s time for America to announce to the world that too much is enough. We know the overwhelming majority of world Muslims are not a threat to us. But far too many are. We should publicly renounce the cowardly and self-defeating White House fear that a good war on terror will be perceived as a bad war on Islam. What stupidity! Remind the world that the war against organized crime was not a war against Italians. And those once-intimidated Italians who kept quiet hoping their little vegetable shop wouldn’t be the next one hit by the Mafia for “protection” money eventually began to feel more comfortable in America. They began to spawn prosecutors with names like Giuliani who put mob kingpins behind bars, and filmmakers with names like Scorsese who turned those once-menacing underworld bosses into ridiculous caricatures.
Tell the world loudly that from this instant forward we are going to use all our resources to extirpate the menace of jihad from our shores, the homelands of our allies and, insofar as we’re able, from the entire planet. Our motives are pure, though at times our methods may be flawed and our manner misunderstood. “Trust us,” we should shout. We have ways of knowing who the potential “Hasans” are. Like all animals, they offer tracks, mating calls and many other clues. Fortunately, they have strong and maybe unbreakable habits that make them easy to detect. Most of those “giveaway” clues are best known to law enforcement alone.
Maybe one of those clues can be revealed. If an innocent American traveler can be jerked out of an airport security line and jailed for making a dumb joke about a bomb in his luggage, then perhaps we’ll assume the right to remove a Muslim from his post of military psychiatrist for repeatedly condemning American attempts to install decent and humane governments in Iraq, Afghanistan and, hopefully, elsewhere. Especially if that Muslim, like Hasan, then goes on to condemn America’s wars against evil and praises suicide bombers as “just like soldiers who courageously throw their bodies upon hand grenades to protect the lives of their battlefield brothers.”
Let the word go forth. It’s going to get very dangerous to be a jihadist in America. And the sooner you peaceful Muslims rise up against your murderous co-religionists and join us openly, the happier it will be for humanity.
Intimidation of the innocent works well for the side of evil.
Emboldenment of those innocents works better for the side of good.
