ABC, did you get the news on 'Climategate'?

The Media Research Center wants to make sure the news broadcast networks’ lack of coverage on “Climategate” – the international scandal over scientists falsifying evidence of human-caused global climate change – hasn’t come from simple ignorance.

So it’s sending the news by courier directly to ABC, NBC and CBS headquarters.

“For 14 straight days, the three broadcast networks have failed to report on the great and growing Climategate scandal on their weekday morning or evening news programs,” writes the MRC on its website, Newsbusters.org. “How to explain this?

“Perhaps it is that ABC, NBC and CBS have not yet heard of the story, despite two weeks of nonstop reporting on and discussion of Climategate in a whole host of media outlets,” the MRC quips.

MRC President Brent Bozell announced he plans on sending a copy of the New York Times’ front-page story on the scandal to ABC News, NBC News and CBS News, “in the hopes that armed with this new information, they will finally report a story that has been roiling nearly everywhere else for a fortnight.”

To complete its tongue-in-cheek effort to jumpstart media coverage, the MRC even plans on having the newspapers sent by bicycle courier – “so as not to offend the networks’ pro-global-warming sensibilities,” states Newsbusters.

As WND reported, officials at a key global-warming research center in the United Kingdom have authenticated a series of e-mails and documents apparently taken from their computer system by a hacker that include scientists discussing how to “trick” data to “hide the decline” of global temperatures and suppress the voices of colleagues who are not on board with their global-warming agenda.

The scandal – which has reopened questions about the scientific validity behind man-caused global climate-change theories – has since been dubbed “Climategate,” though the nation’s network-news broadcasters have been hesitant to cover the story on TV news broadcasts.

The MRC, a media watchdog organization whose mission is, in part, “to bring balance and responsibility to the news media,” has been critical of the lack of coverage.

“Ignorance is no excuse under the law, but maybe we should stop criticizing and start showing compassion for NBC, ABC and CBS and their neglect of the huge Climategate story,” said Bozell in statement. “We are more than happy to help rectify their knowledge deficit. … We think that once the networks read the story of ClimateGate in their vaunted New York Times, they’ll feel compelled to report it themselves.”
