It does not take a majority to prevail … but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.
~ Samuel Adams
I love those stirring words of Samuel Adams (1722-1803), one of my favorite historical figures, also known as “The Father of the American Revolution.” Would to God we had 535 Samuel Adamses in Congress today.
During pivotal times of our history, Massachusetts has been at the epicenter of America’s republic. We all remember the two great tea parties that began a tsunami of political reform starting in Massachusetts and quickly spread throughout the country:
- May 10, 1773 – The Boston Tea Party lit the fuse of the American Revolution, which eventually destroyed the shackles of British tyranny, monarchy and confiscatory taxation policies from the colonies;
- April 15, 2009 – The first Tax Day Tea Party was started on Tax Day in Boston, Mass., leading to a steady decline of President Barack Obama in the polls and increasing opposition to his radical Marxist agenda to “remake America,” including his socialist health-care program currently stalled in Congress.
The first act of defiance by our forefathers 237 years ago established the republic; the last act will perhaps save our republic from the fascist policies of President Obama and the Democrats.
With Tuesday’s victory of Scott Brown over Massachusetts Democrat Attorney General Martha Coakley, seismic shock waves were sent across the world. The sword of Damocles now hangs ominously over the head Obama and Majority Leader Harry Reid’s tenuous 60 votes required to pass their Marxist health-care bill in the Senate.
This new Republican senator will undoubtedly destroy Obama and the Democrat Party’s tyranny and cause Reid to lose their filibuster-proof control of Congress. When this occurs, Obama’s entire legislative agenda along with his self-righteous arrogance will collapse. Obama will then be transformed from an instrument of “change” into a one-term irrelevancy like his political mentor, Jimmy Carter.
Even in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts, the bluest of blue states, where registered Democrats outnumber Republicans 3 to 1, the unpredicted strong showing by Scott Brown in debates and his tireless campaigning against the establishment political hack, Martha Coakley, pushed Scott over the top, defeating her 52 to 47 percent.
The Democrats showed their utter desperation by pulling out the big political guns last week: Saturday was former President Bill Clinton who talked more about Haiti and himself than Coakley. President Obama, as the angel of death, also campaigned for Coakley, thus dooming her campaign.
Obama remains defiant and has launched a new Saul Alinsky-esque attack against corporations and Wall Street.
A word of caution here: The GOP cannot become complacent and rest on their laurels, but must be ever more vigilant to maintain the 41-vote Republican bloc in the Senate and to ultimately defeat this socialist, anti-America agenda of President Obama. The GOP must resurrect the Reagan Revolution of the 1980s and former Speaker Gingrich’s “Contract with America” of 1994.
The GOP must also prepare counter strategies to oppose the White House and Democrats’ Machiavellian tactics to turn America into a socialist state. One scenario would push House Democrats to accept the health-care bill the Senate passed last month through reconciliation. This tactic would only require a simple majority of 51 votes in the Senate. House Democrats would be outraged if this occurs because the Senate bill doesn’t contain the so-called public option. Another plot would be to delay the seating of Sen. Brown until after health care is passed.
Why the delay? Because socialist health care has always been more about the cult of personality of Obama than improving the health of Americans; thus he will gladly sign any bill the Senate gives him.
The election of Scott Brown should alert all Americans that the real enemies of America are treasonous politicians, mostly of the Democratic Party, who long ago made a Faustian bargain with the devil to sacrifice the moral principles of America’s Founding Fathers like Samuel Adams for the phony liberalism and progressivism of Woodrow Wilson, FDR, LBJ and Obama – which only seeks to liberate government at the expense of the people’s personal property, liberties and our sacred inalienable rights.
The election of Sen. Brown Tuesday reclaimed Sen. Edward Kennedy’s seat, which he held for almost 47 years. If Brown follows Samuel Adams’ legacy rather the Sen. Kennedy’s, he will help move America away from Marxism, socialism and leviathan government and toward freedom, liberty, American exceptionalism, market capitalism and protecting America’s precious inalienable rights from government tyranny. Adams said it thusly: “Among the natural rights of the colonists are these: First a right to life, secondly to liberty, and thirdly to property; together with the right to defend them in the best manner they can.”
Regarding the election of Brown, Obama’s minister of propaganda, David Axelrod, was defiant, telling Politico: “I think that it would a terrible mistake to walk away now. If we don’t pass the [health-care] bill, all we have is the stigma of a caricature that was put on it. That would be the worst result for everybody who has supported this bill.”
Einstein once said, The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I hope the Democratic Party stiffens their collective neck and plunges headlong into the abyss of political irrelevancy. The Democrats must realize that if you are defending the Obama legislative agenda and can’t hide in Massachusetts, then you can’t hide anywhere.
America! Let us reclaim the revolutionary, anti-tyrant spirit of Samuel Adams, which he heroically championed despite the odds. Adams said, It does not take a majority to prevail … but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.
Admittedly, Sen. Brown, while fiscally conservative, is liberal on some social and international issues, like being pro-abortion, voting for greenhouse gas restrictions and favoring a two-state solution for Israel. Nevertheless, I trust that he will eventually move to the right.
Congratulations, Sen. Scott Brown!
