Whether President Barack Hussein Obama is willing to acknowledge it or not, the West is at war with global jihad. This is a war that began against the United States on Sept. 11, 2001, in which about 3,000 Americans were murdered by the Islamic attack on the twin World Trade Center towers in Manhattan and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

What is global jihad? It is the determined effort of the Islamic world to impose the religion of Islam and Shariah law on the entire world. In Europe, this effort is being waged by massive immigration of Muslims into Spain, France, England, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and Scandinavia. Radical Muslims have bombed trains in Spain, bombed subways and buses in London, assassinated an anti-Islamic cinematographer in Holland, threatened to kill a cartoonist in Denmark for depicting Muhammad in a less than a complimentary manner. They have also murdered Christians and burned churches in Nigeria, Pakistan and Indonesia.

Meanwhile, al-Qaida has announced that it has created an army in Yemen of 15,000 fighters, and John Brennan, Obama’s homeland-security adviser, has stated that the U.S. is no longer in a “war on terrorism” or fighting against “jihadists.”

A jaw-dropping expose on the six-month undercover operation that revealed the true terror-supporting nature of CAIR: “Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That’s Conspiring to Islamize America.” It’s also available in electronic form at reduced price through Scribd.

But, according to Newt Gingrich, “The key lesson of the Christmas Detroit bomber and the Times Square car bomber is that our national-security system failed completely, and we were notified by civilian passengers and a street vendor about two bombs, which could have killed many Americans. Yet, there has been no honest assessment of failure. Indeed, from Sept. 11 to the present nobody has been fired for failure to perform, even though it’s obvious there have been many failures.”

In addition, there was the failed attempt to blow up an American airliner by the shoe bomber, the murder of 13 servicemen at Fort Hood by a jihadist in uniform and the denial of freedom of speech to American missionaries at a Muslim fair in Dearborn, Mich.

Considering what the imams are preaching in their mosques, it is obvious that this jihad will go on for many years to come. The frontline for the West is Israel. In Israel itself, the frontline was the Jewish settlements in Gaza. But the Israeli government, in its mistaken view that uprooting 9,000 Israelis in Gaza and surrendering the territory unconditionally to the enemy would lead to peace, have learned that their surrender has only led to more war. The frontline is now the Israeli towns around the Gaza Strip.

Leftists in the West have joined forces with the Islamic jihad to destroy capitalism and Israel, the only Western democracy in the Middle East, which has become the linchpin in this war. That is why the Palestinians have imposed such unacceptable conditions on any peace plan with the Jewish state.

Unless Israel is willing to surrender more territory, accept millions of Arab refugees and end its control of the West Bank, the Palestinians will not make peace. What they want is an Israel so weakened and impotent that its final destruction is assured. And, of course, the West and President Obama are putting as much pressure on Israel as they can to give the Palestinians what they want.

But Israel now realizes that its unconditional pullout from Gaza was a grave mistake and that it cannot afford to make any more such catastrophic mistakes. Gaza is now an important strategic territory controlled by global jihadists determined to destroy Israel. The large Jewish settlements in the West Bank, which are really suburbs of Jerusalem, will not be evacuated by Israel. To do so would severely weaken Israel not only militarily but also psychologically.

What the West doesn’t seem to realize is that Israel is their frontline of defense and should therefore have their support and not their enmity. While the leftists in the Democratic Party have become increasingly anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian, moderate Democrats and Republicans in Congress support Israel and are willing to make their views known to everyone.

In her book, “Shackled Warrior,” Caroline Glick writes (p. 208): “Throughout the world, Islamic ideologues are aggressively spreading their message of global domination. In mosques, on the Internet, on television, in schools, hospitals and prisons, Islamic preachers can be found propagating the cause of Islamic domination. And aside from Iran, no regime, including the Saudi regime, is immune from the pressures of the message.” And what is the Obama regime doing to counter all of this? Nothing.

Glick also quotes Palestinian Sheik Ibrahim Mudeiris, who said in a sermon on Palestinian television in May 2005: “We [Muslims] have ruled the world before, and, by Allah, the day will come when we will rule the entire world again. The day will come when we will rule America. The day will come when we will rule Britain and the entire world – except for the Jews. The Jews will not enjoy a life of tranquility under our rule, because they are treacherous by nature, as they have been throughout history. The day will come when everything will be relieved of the Jews.” In other words, Islam is more than just a religion. It is a totalitarian, genocidal political movement.

As a show of Islamic arrogance and triumph, Islamists have decided to build a large mosque at Ground Zero in Manhattan where Islamists killed so many Americans in the Twin Towers. The Muslims see America’s refusal to admit it is involved in a world war against Islamic jihad as a great sign of weakness and a prelude to surrender. They are convinced that Americans do not have the will to prevent an Islamic takeover of America. If they succeed in building this mosque at Ground Zero, they will hail that achievement as a great victory for Islamic jihad. It will honor and commemorate the triumph of the Islamic martyrs who died as heroes to achieve victory for Allah.
