I can only wonder if the news media will re-examine its fondness for the Council on American-Islamic Relations now that its favorite “Muslim-American civil rights group” has lost its tax-exempt status for non-compliance with Internal Revenue Service regulations.
To date, all the cable news networks, without exception, have buried their collective heads in the sand with regard to the true intentions of this group, its connections with terrorist activity and its funding sources. The entire press establishment ignored “Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That’s Conspiring to Islamize America,” the well-documented CAIR exposé. The media also failed to notice that CAIR Washington had failed even to maintain itself as a legal 501(c)3 corporation when it filed suit against one of the authors of that book and his son. They also refused to report CAIR’s listing as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorist-financing trial in American history.
Through all of those developments, Fox, CNN, MSNBC, the Washington Post, New York Times and others just continued to pretend that CAIR was nothing more than an innocent, well-intended “Muslim-American civil rights group,” rather than a major player in the Muslim Brotherhood conspiracy to bring Saudi-style Shariah law to the U.S. and the rest of the world.
But now maybe this is something the media can understand.
After all, the media don’t like tax cheats. And that’s what CAIR has become as it continues to solicit tax-deductible donations even though the IRS has terminated its tax-exempt status.
Is this the straw that will break the camel’s back for media darling CAIR? Will the media finally stop coddling and protecting and shamelessly promoting CAIR? Will they ever awaken to the real nature of CAIR? Will they ever tell the truth about this insidious group? Will they ever begin properly identifying CAIR as an organization literally without distinction from the Hamas terrorists bent on destroying Israel and spreading the woman-demeaning, Jew-hating, repressive Islamic ideology?
I can’t wait to see.
My guess is no.
If you don’t care about the fact that more than a dozen CAIR officials, board members and employees have been charged with or convicted of terrorist-related offenses, losing an IRS tax exemption is probably no biggie in your eyes.
But the interesting aspect of this story is why CAIR lost its tax-exempt status. The IRS yanked it because CAIR withheld donor records from the government. And this federal investigation and audit was triggered by the “Muslim Mafia” book CAIR is trying to have removed from bookshelves around the country. A federal judge is currently weighing CAIR’s claims to destroy all copies of its internal documents captured in a sting operation by one of the authors and his son, who worked undercover inside CAIR posing as a Muslim convert intern, including those copies published in the book.
Yet it would seem the federal government learned quite a bit from “Muslim Mafia” – even if CAIR’s protectors in the media didn’t see the book as newsworthy.
CAIR’s national office has failed to file financial records since 2007 as required by federal law. Registered as a 501(c)3 organization, the group must detail its revenues and expenses to the IRS in annual reports known as form 990s to maintain its tax-exempt status. Why do you suppose CAIR would be so reluctant to take those simple steps and remain in compliance with IRS regulations?
I can only think of one.
It suggests CAIR, identified in the terror-financing case as a front group for Hamas is purposely concealing its funding sources and shadowy financial activities.
CAIR receives millions of dollars in donations, pledges and other support from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and other terror-tied Arab states, as revealed in “Muslim Mafia.”
Do you think any of what I have described here should be of interest to the CAIR-courting media? Are you surprised none of it has been disclosed in the hundreds of interviews conducted virtually on a weekly basis with CAIR? Do you agree with me that the media are aiding and abetting CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood by intentionally keeping the public in the dark about this group’s real agenda?
If so, I want to enlist you in my lonely fight to expose CAIR and beat back their expensive legal challenges aimed at undermining the First Amendment’s guarantees of freedom of the press as part of its overall Shariah-supporting attack on the Constitution and American values.
I need your help.
The CAIR legal attack on WND’s author is far from over. WND needs your help in supporting the defense of “Muslim Mafia” co-author P. David Gaubatz, as well as his investigator son Chris, against CAIR’s lawsuit. The book’s revelations have led to formal congressional demands for three different federal investigations of CAIR. In the meantime, however, someone has to defend these two courageous investigators who have, at great personal risk, revealed so much about this dangerous group. Although WND has procured the best First Amendment attorneys in the country for their defense, we can’t do it without your help. Please donate to WND’s Legal Defense Fund now. For donations of $25 or more, WND will send you a copy of this important, breakthrough book.
