It’s been nearly three months since the Drudge Report highlighted Jerome Corsi’s new book, “Where’s the Birth Certificate?”, and it rocketed to No. 1 at Amazon.com.
The top ranking came weeks before the book even was released, and some are suspicious that the intense attention focused on unanswered questions about Barack Obama’s eligibility prompted the release by the White House just a week later of a copy of a Hawaiian “Certificate of Live Birth” that many experts now have labeled a forgery.
But even release of the document didn’t erase the doubt, as a subsequent scientific poll revealed fully half of Americans, including one in four Democrats, want Congress to investigate Obama’s past. And now the issue has returned to the top of the page at Amazon, under the headline “Most Active Products Forums,” for a time over the weekend.
“The long form birth certificate is a FORGERY. Our government has been overthrown,” said one comment in the revived arguments over the book and its premise.
“There is no real birth certificate. AND YOU KNOW IT,” proclaimed one participant.
About the birth certificate image, Jimmy E. wrote, “There is not an original … well maybe an original on somebody’s hard drive.”
“Face it, your Obfuscator in Chief is just a middle manager who has ‘issues,'” added another.
The recent poll by Fritz Wenzel of Wenzel Strategies left no option for “marginalizing those who want this matter investigated by Congress,” he said.
“Even among Democrats, more than one in four – 28 percent – said they now want an inquiry, as do 43 percent of independents and 77 percent of Republicans. Interestingly, men are much more skeptical than are women about the question of eligibility – only 42 percent of men said they think Obama proved his eligibility by releasing the electronic birth certificate, compared to 59 percent of women,” Wenzel noted.
The poll indicated 43.5 percent of Americans believe that a Hawaii birth would make no difference in Obama’s eligibility, as the Constitution requires both parents of a U.S. president to have been U.S. citizens – and Obama’s father was not a citizen.
The figure included 56.9 percent of Republicans, 40.2 percent of independents and 32.9 percent of Democrats.
Dozens of lawsuits has been been filed, and many questions remained unanswered. Documents that typically would be available from a president’s history for Obama remain concealed, including passport records, kindergarten records, Punahou school records, Occidental College records, Columbia University records, Columbia thesis, Harvard Law School records, Harvard Law Review articles, University of Chicago articles, Illinois State Bar Association records, Illinois State Senate records and schedules, medical records, Obama/Dunham marriage license, Obama/Dunham divorce documents, Soetoro/Dunham marriage license and adoption records.
It was Obama, just as the book was hitting No. 1 on Amazon in April, who instructed his White House counsel, Robert Bauer, to have a private attorney, Judy Corley of Perkins Coie, contact the Hawaii Department of Health to obtain a copy of his “Certificate of Live Birth” purportedly on file with the state.
The White House subsequently released copies of a copy of that document and posted an online image, calling it “proof positive” of a Hawaii birth. Since then, however, dozens of experts, including several ex-CIA members, have asserted that the image that was released is fraudulent.
Corsi’s book is the result of three years of research.
“I traveled to Kenya and to Hawaii. I have hired private investigators and had the help of inside sources in Kenya, Indonesia and Hawaii,” the author explained earlier.
It was shortly after the book’s release that it also was the hottest topic at Amazon.
The forum at that time featured more than 500 “discussions.”
The dispute is over Obama’s eligibility based on the requirement of the U.S. Constitution that a president be a “natural born citizen.” The term is not defined in the Constitution but considered by many at the time of its writing to be a citizen born on the nation’s soil of citizen parents.
The issues raised in Corsi’s book apparently have been alarming to the Obama administration for some time, because after more than two years of declaring that an online image of a “Certification of Live Birth” was the only documentation available, Obama dispatched an attorney to Hawaii to pick up a copy of a “Certificate of Live Birth” and announced that the new image, was the best documentation.
But Hawaii state officials declined even to confirm to WND that the information released by Obama was an accurate representation of what their records hold.
Corsi previously authored the New York Times best-sellers “Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry” and “The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality.”
