Approximately 236 years later, the nation, for a second time, has entered into a revolutionary state, again because the grievances of the people not having been addressed and resolved by our establishment ruling political elite. To make matters even worse, "We the People," in a drunken stupor – thanks to the failed leadership of our last two presidents – mindlessly, in a knee-jerk reaction to the sinking state of the nation, voted into power three years ago a person who is not only a socialist, but may not even respect and honor the Almighty – our Judeo-Christian God. Given the behavior of President Barack Hussein Obama, chronicled many times in this weekly column, it is indeed more than likely that he pledges his allegiance to Allah. He has acted as a Muslim, his father's "religion," more than a believer in the Almighty God revered and made an integral part of our functioning body politic by Founding Fathers, like Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson.
The United States of America today sits on a precipice. Its fate lies, as it did in the years leading up to the first revolution, with "We the People." We can either turn a blind eye to our current condition and pretend that there is time to rectify it, allowing establishment politicians and judges who have brought the nation to the brink of total disaster to continue to rule over us like King George III, or we can take matters peacefully but forcefully – for the time being at least – into our own hands. At least from a political perspective, that means having leaders, and particularly a president, who have the confidence of the people. We need leaders, who are not only visionaries but are also strong and brave, to step forward and assume democratically elected positions of power during this crucial period. Short of violent revolution, this is a principal means to restore the country to greatness.
Many people in the Republican Party, as well as independents and some Democrats, have believed for some time that there was just such a leader to assume the presidency. He was thought to be a straight shooter, willing to take on the establishment and represent "We the People" for a change. Indeed, he appeared to have done so in short order as the governor of New Jersey. Ironically, his name is Chris Christie. While he is not the Son of the Lord, as his name suggests, he was thought to be pretty darn good for a politician presiding over a basket case of a state (New Jersey) in the decaying Northeastern "rust belt." He sported only one liability: He is grossly overweight, a vice some claim shows a lack of self-discipline and self-respect. But then again, what the nation is yearning for is a "heavyweight champion," someone who has the heft and force to throw a knock-out punch against the intellectually and actually corrupt establishment on behalf of all of us. Who cares if this man is not as "pretty and svelte" as some of the other national politicians vying for president, such as Mitt Romney, Rick Perry or Michele Bachmann? Results are what is needed!
But ironically, and sadly for the nation, the "heavyweight champion" abdicated his championship belt when called upon to step into the ring once again, this time to fight for the presidency on behalf of "We the People." Claiming disingenuously that he was not ready to serve, Christie ignored the clarion call to lead the nation out of the wilderness of decades of failed leadership. Instead, he apparently put his own personal interests – and only he really knows what they are – first.
How far, indeed, we have come since the years leading up to the first American Revolution. No longer do we have leaders like Patrick Henry or Thomas Jefferson who call for liberty or death and pledge their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to the cause of freedom and the wellbeing of the nation. They, like Christie, may be more concerned with when and where they will having their next meal, in many instances paid for by lobbyists.
Even if Christie honestly believes that this is not the "perfect time" for him to run for the presidency, the hard fact of life is that many of us believe that time is extremely short in our efforts to save the country from total collapse. President Barack Hussein Obama and his socialist, secular and, in many instances, atheist comrades have brought us to the edge. And there does not seem to be anyone in the opposition Republican Party who has the gravitas to lead the nation, as George Washington, John Adams, Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan did during periods of peril.
When it came time for the colonialists to declare independence and wage war against the British crown, they did not wait, but heeded the call to service when the colonies were in dire straits. Here again is what Patrick Henry preached to his brothers in arms:
They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of ineffectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until or enemies shall have bound us hand and foot? Sir, we are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of nature hath placed in our power.
Gov. Christie, is apparently not of the mettle of our Founding Fathers and revolutionary colonialists. He has proved to be no glutton for the hard work and attendant "punishment" of stepping into the ring to lead this nation during its perilous times.
It now turns to us, "We the People," to do what must be done. There is apparently no politician who is willing or able to lead us back to the Promised Land.
