On face value it seemed we could all enjoy our Thanksgiving last week and not worry about the Senate’s actions or the wonderfully named bill up for deliberation, S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act. After all, it was “bipartisan” and full of conservative support.
We now find, however, that within this lovely named bill the sitting president could imprison any civilian without charge or trial in a newly declared “battlefield” – your front yard.
Titles seem to be the opposite of the content; deception seems to be the name of the game in modern-day politics and media. For example, as you will see in the video, “If ‘Con’ is the opposite of ‘Pro,’ is Congress the opposite of progress?” Is this the kind of progress we want in America? Oxymorons have become necessary literary styles.
Do you ever wonder why that is? How did we get here and what have we left off? Common sense and simply doing that which is right seems to be a thing of the past amongst some these days.
