A hospital is treating dementia patients by setting up rooms in a 1950s style in a bid to comfort them from confusion and memory loss.

The golden oldie-style rooms feature wallpaper, a radio, furniture and even newspapers from days gone by because often patients’ memories from decades back can be more vivid.

With songs from the time being played over iPods and staff nearby, the patients will be encouraged to talk about what they remember.
