Rush Limbaugh
Prompted by a caller who described himself as an African-American, a conservative and a fan of Limbaugh's books, Rush told listeners: "It's the twentieth anniversary of 'The Way Things Ought to Be!' That book was number one on the New York Times list for 54 weeks. It was the first time in history that the New York Times best-seller list was ignored for a full year, 'cause I was at the top. ... It's a long time ago, and since it's a book of principles, it is still relevant today."
Who was the real winner of the Iowa Caucus? According to Jay D. Homnick of the American Spectator, it was Rush Limbaugh. Homnick theorized that it was Rick Santorum's unabashed use of accolades he'd received from Limbaugh in his campaign ads that helped pushed him into a tight, second place finish.
Michael Savage
TalkStreamLive released their fourth quarter ratings results for 2011, which showed Michael Savage still firmly ensconced in second place, just below Rush Limbaugh.
"Savage's continued surge further separates him from Glenn Beck and the other contenders," said the report. "Look for Savage to challenge Rush for the streaming audio crown in 2012."
Supporters of Ron Paul are notable for their habit of calling talk radio shows and aggressively defending their favorite candidate. This week, Michael Savage argued with a passionate Paul supporter who insisted that he could easily beat Obama in a general election (FREE audio).
Sean Hannity
"Is Rick Santorum the Tim Tebow of the 2012 elections?"
That was Hannity's provocative question after Santorum surprised many by placing second in the Iowa Caucus. Sean put down the close finish as a tribute to Santorum's relentless campaign across the state (FREE audio).
Mark Levin
Mark Levin's latest book, "Ameritopia," is due out later this month. As always, his first book signing will take place at the Book Review store in Huntington, New York. One of his biggest fans posted the information about these upcoming signings, with ingenious tips on how to cope with the long lines that inevitably form at Levin's public events.
On the air, Mark Levin issued a warning to Ron Paul. If he decides to run as a third party candidate, thus essentially handing the election to Obama, Levin vowed to work to defeat his son Rand Paul in Kentucky (FREE audio).
Laura Ingraham
This week, Laura chatted with Mitt and Laura Romney before the big Iowa Caucus, then talked to Newt Gingrich the day after the vote about his disappointing placement. Gingrich floated the idea of entering into an "Anyone But Mitt" alliance with Rick Santorum.
David Brooks of the New York Times talked about the two parties' battle to secure the working class vote, which has shifted from Democrat to Republican over the years (FREE audio).
Glenn Beck
San Francisco radio listeners must've thought they were having a nightmare when they tuned into hear "progressive" Stephanie Miller's program this week – and heard Glenn Beck's voice instead!
As the Huffington Post put it: "The most liberal commercial talk radio station in the most liberal market in the country now features Mr. Tea Party himself as the cornerstone of its daily programming."
In a tragic development, Arizona radio legend Bill Heywood and his wife Susan were found dead this week, in an apparent double suicide. In 1987, Heywood lost his prime radio spot to newcomer Glenn Beck, a shift that one commentator said signified that "perhaps Heywood's mellow, classy brand of broadcasting was going out of style."
