WASHINGTON – A congressman who is on the House Armed Services Committee says the fire that the U.S. military is taking right now is alarming.
But it’s “friendly fire,” that is, budget cuts made by Washington.
“The volume of the cuts is incredible,” he told Greg Corombos of Radio America in an interview for WND. “We had already taken a 10 percent cut across the entire defense department.”
But now he says another 10 percent cut is looming.
“The information we’ve gotten tells us the effects of the first 10 percent cut. Twelve ships. 100,000 soldiers, out of 570,000.”
Akin explained that the sheer size of the cuts is alarming to him.
