(USA TODAY) — President Obama faces a "challenging" political and economic environment as he seeks re-election in November, the Gallup organization is reporting.
Obama's approval rating in Gallup's daily tracking poll is averaging 44% so far in January, which is lower than most presidents who have lost their re-election bids. Obama can take comfort from the fact that one president had a lower approval rating in January of his re-election year, and still won: Bill Clinton in 1996.
