Cartoons are one step better even than pictures, because they have both pictures and words. That’s what Ray Comfort says, anyway, about a new effort to reach out with the message in his “180: The Movie,” which has gained a nation’s attention.

Comfort has launched a new website called “180baby” to feature cartoons of what the unborn might be perceiving about their environment and future.

“The old maxim ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’ certainly is true,” Comfort explains. “Cartoons are a very powerful medium because they use both pictures and words. But don’t be fooled into thinking that they are just for kids. You will find them in the world’s leading newspapers, because they have the ability to convey a powerful political message in a short space of time.”

He noted his experience with the power of an effective message: “Many years ago I had a business where I made dressy leather jackets to order for people. I once put a cartoon of a shivering cow on the front page of a newspaper, asking the rhetorical question ‘Have you ever seen a cold cow?’ Then I spoke of the warmth and quality of genuine leather. The next day I sold every jacket in my shop, including the one off my back.”

The cartoon messages range from the direct “Please let me live” and “Mom, I’m looking forward to meeting you” to “She’s jogging again” and “It must be winter.”

The goal is to raise awareness of Comfort’s award-winning movie “180,” which advocates for the importance of the lives of the unborn.

“’180′ has the power to change minds about abortion, and therefore the way people vote,” he said.

“Viewers come away saying that they would never vote for anyone who advocates the killing of a baby in the womb, no matter how promising their fiscal policies,” he said.

The stunning DVD video project by Comfort, whose work is documented on his Living Waters website, already has had some two million views on YouTube.

And it’s sold some 300,000 copies, and not quite that many have been given away on college campuses.

Is it making a difference? Witnesses say yes.

“I am so glad I took the time to watch ’180.’ It is gutsy and very powerful,” said Stephen Kendrick, producer of the movies “Fireproof” and “Courageous.”

“To date, 26 Christian television networks have requested permission to air it, and it’s also now in 25 languages. We are particularly excited about the Spanish version, because it was professionally dubbed using actors’ voices,” Comfort said.

He said he is encouraging those who watch the film to share it with their friends and family, and follow its impact on Facebook.

The video shows the impact of America’s abortion industry on the nation. And it demonstrates how quickly people can change their minds about such a major social issue when presented with the facts.

In the “180″ film it becomes clear that many people are unaware of the diabolical evil imposed on the world by Adolf Hitler and are largely unaware of the facts about abortion and its tremendous toll on life in the U.S.

The pro-life video shows eight people who are pro-abortion changing their minds and becoming pro-life.

In the movie, Comfort tells young adults that Hitler legally killed millions of Jews. Some of the Jews were ordered to be buried alive, and Comfort shows documentary footage of that happening and reports of Jews who survived.

He asks them, “Would you have done that?” Nearly all of them say no, except for two Neo-Nazis.

Then he questions the participants about their support for abortion and the lives taken by the industry.

Ted Baehr, publisher of the Christian family magazine Movieguide, explains, “Ray makes the connection between Hitler’s right to choose to kill Jews, who Hitler said were less than human, and the holocaust of abortion.

“Within a few minutes, one by one, he convinces several of the people he’s interviewing that they are really pro-life. He then goes on to confront them about their salvation and several, though not all, accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.”

The results have been stark: “After seeing this video, I made the solid decision to proceed and keep by baby,” one woman wrote to Comfort.

Another wrote, “When I finished watching the video, I couldn’t stop crying. I couldn’t believe I was going to kill my child.”
