The shamed Italian cruise captain who abandoned his capsized ship while passengers were still aboard is a metaphor for the current U.S. administration, says talk-radio host top-rated talk-radio host Michael Savage.
“Obama is in a lifeboat beneath a sinking ship, and he won’t get back on the bridge, because he’s afraid he’ll go down with the ship,” Savage told his “Savage Nation” audience today.
Savage played clips from the translation of a heated conversation between Italian Coast Guard Captain Gregorio De Falco and the captain of the doomed Costa Concordia, Francesco Schettino, who sat in a lifeboat while dozens of passengers remained on board. Eleven are reported dead and 22 are missing after the ship ran aground Friday off the coast of Italy.
After it became clear that Schettino was not on the ship, De Falco said: “Schettino, you may have saved yourself from the sea, but I’m going to make you pay, I’m going to make your life miserable. Get the (bleep) on board!”
Schettino replied that he was with the lifeboats, coordinating the rescue.
De Falco shot back: “What are you coordinating there? Go aboard! Coordinate the rescue from aboard the ship. Are you refusing?”
Schettino said he was not refusing and later said he would go aboard, but he complained: “You realize it’s dark and here we can’t see anything. …”
De Falco cut in: “And what? You want go home, Schettino? It’s dark and you want to go home? Get on that prow of the boat using the rope ladder and tell me what can be done, how many people there are and what they need. Now!”
Savage pointed to Obama’s rejection of the Keystone Pipeline project from Canada as the latest example of poor leadership.
The Republicans, he said, “don’t have the guts or the brains to impeach” Obama.
“Even an environmental studies major from Harvard can understand that oil from Canada into America by pipeline is a no-brainer,” Savage said.
“Oil from Canada in a pipeline to the U.S. reduces our dependence on the Arab fascists, reduces the cost of oil and is good for the environment,” he argued.
“And yet one dictator, Obama, has said no to the pipeline.”
Savage noted some explain Obama’s actions by pointing out he is tied to “the corrupt solar industry” and “George Soros’ investments in oil in South America.”
“The fact of the matter is he does not have the authority to block such a project,” Savage said. “The unions are even for this.”
The unions are for it, he noted, because it would create tens of thousands of jobs.
“Everyone is for it except the special interests that own Schettino in the lifeboat,” said Savage.
Savage recently charged Obama is becoming increasingly brazen in his wielding of authority, pointing to moves such as “recess appointments” widely regarded as unconstitutional and a declaration that he must act without Congress,
“We’re watching a dictatorship emerging now where he is literally coming out of his chrysalis and showing his true nature,” Savage told his listeners last night.
Referring to Haiti’s family of dictators, Savage said that Obama is a “Junior Doc Duvalier” but soon will become a “Papa Doc,” with “one unconstitutional move at a time with virtually no opposition.”
“This is, of course, how power is grabbed, day after day,” he said.
“The Savage Nation” airs live Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern. It can be heard online through stations such as KSTE in Sacramento.
