But, according to a team of scientists in Germany, the rise of GPS devices could leave us totally in the dark when it comes to self navigation.

Humans instinctively remember maps and end up with a north facing ‘compass’ in their heads, researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tubingen found.
