Outrage over multiple scandals within the U.S. Justice Department under Attorney General Eric Holder, especially the “Fast and Furious” disaster that has many calling for Holder’s immediate ouster, has resulted in a petition, launched by WND, urging Congress to immediately initiate a wide-ranging investigation of Holder and his “Department of Injustice” for rampant corruption.
WND’s past petitions have had a strong track record, including one to help free U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean from prison, which the Ramos and Compean families credited with helping to secure a commutation of their sentences. Another petition dealing with the Obama eligibility question gathered more than 500,000 names, and was
personally received by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.
Widespread indignation over the Justice Department has been spurred in part by the release of the October issue of Whistleblower magazine, titled “DEPARTMENT OF INJUSTICE,” which shockingly documents dozens of unethical and perverse decisions, initiatives and policies that have caused career DOJ attorneys to quit and critics to demand independent investigations.
The latest outrage: Americans are incensed over revelations that the Obama Justice Department’s disastrous “Fast and Furious” operation required federal law enforcement personnel to facilitate delivery of some 2,000 U.S. firearms to ultra-violent Mexican drug cartels – and that this very scandal, which has already cost lives on both sides of the border, including a U.S. Border Patrol agent, has become a pretext for imposing new gun-control regulations on law-abiding U.S. gun dealers in states bordering Mexico.
However, “Fast and Furious” is only the most recent DOJ scandal.
The WND petition, addressing every member of the U.S. Congress, is a virtual indictment of the Eric Holder-led Justice Department, itemizing a long string of corrupt, and sometimes blatantly illegal, policies: Proof that DOJ’s Civil Rights Division is hiring only lawyers with known far-left backgrounds, in violation of federal law; a new “anti-discrimination” policy requiring banks to lower their mortgage standards and approve loans for minorities with poor credit – mirroring the policies that led to today’s catastrophic housing crisis; the aborted prosecution of the most outrageous case of voter intimidation in modern history by nightstick-wielding New Black Panthers; suing the state of Arizona for attempting to enforce federal border and immigration laws; refusing to enforce the federal Defense of Marriage Act; treating al-Qaida-trained Umar “underwear bomber” Abdulmutallab as an American criminal suspect and not a foreign enemy combatant, allowing him to “lawyer up” and avoid questioning; and much more.
“Whereas, the Obama Justice Department has become one of the most politicized and corrupt federal agencies in modern history,” says the petition, “led by an attorney general with a long history of defending and pardoning terrorists while violating the most obvious standards of basic fairness and even-handed justice, turning the Department of Justice literally into a Department of Injustice:
“We, the undersigned, demand that the 112th Congress launch a serious and wide-ranging investigation into the multi-scandal-plagued Department of Justice and its leader, Attorney General Eric Holder.”
In the “DEPARTMENT OF INJUSTICE” Whistleblower issue, WND founder and Editor Joseph Farah asks the following question:
“What would the press and Democratic members of Congress be saying about scandals of this magnitude if they were the handiwork of George W. Bush? Do you think there would be any hesitation to call for impeachment, trial and conviction? Can you even imagine that scandals like this would not be at the top of every news report day after day after day? Neither can I.”
Farah adds, “In fact, I believe people would be on their way to prison for the crimes and cover-ups that have been perpetrated by this administration. And that’s exactly what Americans should be demanding right now.”
