Ted Kennedy's Cape house given to institute

Fulfilling wishes outlined in Massachusetts senator's will

(BOSTON HERALD) — Former U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy’s home in Hyannis Port has been given to the institute in his name, the organization announced today, fulfilling wishes outlined in the Massachusetts senator’s will when he died in 2009.

Kennedy had promised his mother to preserve the home for charity, the Edward M. Kennedy Institute said in a release.

“In making this gift to the EMK Institute, Teddy and I hoped this American landmark would remain a dynamic place that reflected the contributions and commitment to this great nation displayed by the extended Kennedy family,” said the senator’s widow, Vicki Kennedy, in a statement. “We hoped it would help inspire future generations of Americans to be involved and make a difference as well.”
