Maybe you saw me lay out the new, updated, expanded “No More Red Ink” campaign on Judge Andrew Napolitano’s Fox Business Channel show Monday.
It’s pretty exciting stuff. It’s what keeps me optimistic about taking our country back – despite the sad state of affairs in our presidential campaign for 2012.
I invite you to hear more about the plan this Friday morning at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington for an interactive session in which I will ask for your help in ending all Washington borrowing in 2013 – if not before!
Imagine if you could wave a magic wand and accomplish one thing in Washington that would change the culture of the Capitol, drastically reduce the size of government, increase liberty, reduce regulation, balance the budget in no time and get rid of some of the ugliest, most unconstitutional programs and agencies.
I don’t have a magic wand, but I do have a plan that, I believe, can actually get all that done – very, very quickly and no matter who is elected president this year.
This is the secret plan no one in the political and cultural establishment wants you to know about – Democrats and Republicans alike.
Because it can work, but it will require Republicans to live up to their rhetoric and actually do something.
Here’s a preview of what I will talk about Friday.
What you probably don’t know is that House Republicans voted recently nearly unanimously to freeze the debt limit. But it was a symbolic vote only. The reason it was symbolic is because House Speaker John Boehner made a deal last summer to raise the debt limit, giving Barack Obama all the money he needs to continue wrecking the economy and our Constitution, and to unilaterally give up the House Republicans’ authority to stop any more increases through Election Day.
In other words, Republicans and Republicansalonecould have achieved their stated goals of cutting spending, ending borrowing and reducing the size of government, but they didn’t.
The “No More Red Ink” campaign is determined to make sure that never happens again – and that the next time Republicans and Republicans alone have the opportunity to live up to their rhetoric and change the course of our nation’s bleak economic future, they will seize it.
The debt clock is ticking every second – as you can see at the “No More Red Ink” page. I’m determined to stop it – but I need the help of millions of Americans like you.
As part of the campaign, we are inundating the House Republicans will red letters urging them not to listen to their timid, hapless leadership. We are encouraging them to be bold, because drastic times call for drastic action. I urge you to participate in that effort – quickly and inexpensively by sending all 241 House Republicans the letter demanding they cut up government’s credit card at the first opportunity, which, by the way, could occur as early as this November.
We’ve also developed a “No-More-Borrowing Pledge” that we are asking all Republican members of Congress and Republican candidates to sign. Ron Paul is the only Republican presidential candidate to sign it so far, but we are working hard to get the rest of them on board. You can help! We need your help. Write them. Send copies of the pledge.
We’re also asking people of influence and organizations to lend their names in support of this campaign. Tea-party groups and organizational leaders are getting on board every day.
Do you want to end Planned Parenthood funding? Do you want to end funding of the National Endowment for the Arts and NPR and PBS? Do you want to end the Department of Education? This is the only way it will ever happen. In one fell swoop we can get rid of all the unconstitutional programs and agencies and departments by starving them of $1.2 trillion in borrowed money that is necessary to sustain them.
How about Obamacare? It doesn’t need to be repealed. It just needs to be starved to death – and this will do it.
So get on board now!
Join the party.
It’s time to see if we really have a political party that means what it says. Hold the Republicans accountable, and that’s all it takes.
See you this Friday at CPAC in Washington.
