(COURIER MAIL) — The man at the center of today’s murder suicide at Brisbane’s Story Bridge was a teacher at one of Brisbane’s most exclusive schools.
Jason Lees, 40, who took his life and that of his two-year-old son in the early hours of this morning, taught Year 6 at Anglican Church Grammar School.
Originally from Canada, he was an International Sevens Rugby Union referee.
Headmaster Jonathan Hensman said it was a day of “shock and sadness” for the school community.
“He was a highly regarded and much loved teacher whose kindness to his students, his gentlemanly approach and enthusiasm for teaching were acknowledged by students, parents and staff alike,” he said.
“He was an outstanding teacher and very generous contributor to the whole of our program not just the classroom which of course adds to the shock of the circumstances surrounding this.”
