MATTERS OF LIFE AND DEATH

Va. House OKs 'personhood,' ultrasound bills

Follows statute on books for over 20 years in Missouri

(WASHINGTON TIMES) — RICHMOND — The Virginia House on Tuesday approved a so-called “personhood” measure that defines life as beginning at conception and another measure that would expand the state’s informed-consent law by requiring all women to undergo ultrasound imaging before having an abortion.

Delegate Robert G. Marshall, Prince William Republican, said his personhood measure follows a statute that has been on the books for more than 20 years in Missouri.

“The opponents of this legislation have had 26 years to find a bogeyman in the closet on this legislation,” he said.” They have failed.”
