Gay pride? How can someone be proud of something that most people find embarrassing? Be realistic.

If you must do what you must do, then at least be ashamed of yourself. What’s wrong with gay embarrassment? Call a stone a stone. Throw it into the lake and watch it skip across its own reality. Truth is the truth. You can’t hide it beneath self-blandishments in a lake of self-delusion. Self-criticism deepens you.

Gay pride is superficial and hallucinatory. It doesn’t solve the problem. It obfuscates it. Be what you are, but why be proud about it? The loneliness of shame is the first step toward self-awareness.
