In his column “Why do you believe?” Vox Day lists off numerous reasons he thinks he believes the Christian gospel. But he’s mistaken. None of those reasons is sufficient to cause him or anyone else to believe the gospel. If he genuinely believes, then he does so for the very same reason anyone else believes: The Lord “opened” his heart so that he would accept the gospel message (Acts 16:14) and “granted” him the gift of repentance unto life (Acts 11:18; 2 Timothy 2:25).

Yes, even our faith in Christ “is the gift of God … lest anyone should boast” that he is smarter, wiser, or more moral than those who do not believe.
