'Obama in Wonderland' – vulgar, vile propaganda

“Obama in Wonderland” (officially titled “The Road We’ve Traveled”), the world’s first 16-minute political ad, would have pleased Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s infamous propaganda minister. Like the ruling party in George Orwell’s “1984,” this super-slick Hollywood production rewrites history with an alarming arrogance.

The first thing you see in this vulgar, vile, vitriol-filled video is the Obama family walking on stage to greet a huge crowd of tearful, cheering, flag-waving Stepford wives, husbands and children. The melodrama of it all rivals New York City’s 1951 ticker-tape parade for Gen. Douglas MacArthur.

The very first words spoken by narrator Tom Hanks are a preview of the nonstop truth-twisting that is to follow: “What do we remember in 2008? Was it this moment … (long pause) … or this?”

Bam! – a picture portraying panic on Wall Street. Then – Bam! Bam! Bam! – one quick clip after another showing homes with foreclosure signs on their lawns, graphs depicting falling stock prices and panicked media voices decrying the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

Then, a classic left-wing diversionary tactic: “Do we look at the day’s headlines,” asks Hanks, “or do we remember what we, as a country, have been through?” Translation: Ignore all the bad news about the economy, our loss of freedom and America’s disastrous foreign policy – and just “remember what we’ve been through.” No mention, of course, of what we’re going through right now.

Come to think of it, in a 2010 speech, BHO, with a straight face, warned us that “information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment.” What Obama and Hanks are saying is that we need not pay attention to today’s headlines. Ordinarily, I’d say no one could make up this kind of stuff, but the Lying Left in Tinseltown proved me wrong.

The message is clear: Our brilliant, patriotic, family-oriented young president ran smack into the unspeakable financial mess created by evildoer George Bush and his Republican co-conspirators. The premise of what is to follow in this epoch film is that not only is our current financial crisis not the Obamessiah’s fault, he is actually a hero for taking decisive action to bring it under control.

Pundits gently refer to this as political spin. But those of us who are not so tactful prefer to call it horse manure.

And that’s just the first 54 seconds of this Hollywood extravaganza! That’s right, in less than a minute, Tom Hanks converts a lifetime Marxist – who vowed to fundamentally transform the United States of America – into a heroic victim of the Republicans’ anti-poor, anti-middle class policies.

The producers of this masterpiece seamlessly manage to place the man who would be Mao halfway up Mount Rushmore. The son of a self-proclaimed communist from Kenya, who once promoted the idea of a 100 percent tax rate, Obama is nevertheless transformed into Audie Murphy before our very eyes.

Next, Rahm Emanuel explains how members of Obama’s newly appointed economic team flew into Chicago only to find a nightmare awaiting them. David Axelthug, the second most despicable character on earth (after Kathleen Sebelius, but slightly ahead of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad), then sobs about viewing slides with the rest of the transition team and describing what they saw as a “horror movie” – “an economic crisis beyond anything anybody had imagined.”

Get it yet? Nothing that’s happened over the past three-plus years is Obama’s fault. Nope, he inherited everything.

Axelthug claims that Christina Romer, then head of Obama’s Council of Economic Advisors, immediately told BHO that millions of people were going to lose their jobs. Get it yet? Apparently, when Obama later said that if his $787 billion stimulus bill was passed, unemployment would never go above 8 percent, he was just joshing us.

Axelthug then goes on to quote Budget Director Peter Orszag as telling BHO that “this is going to add trillions of dollars to our debt.” Get it yet? To save the country, BHO knew, in advance, that he would have to add trillions of dollars to the national debt – even though he never bothered to mention it.

As this fairy tale production proceeds, the BS ramps up – BS about the auto-industry bailout … BS about Obamacare … BS about renewable energy … BS about how much our schools have improved … BS about the number of private-sector jobs created.

Hanks says that Obama realized he faced “fierce opposition” that was “hostile to compromise” (code for a refusal to go along with his redistribution-of-wealth policies). Time to add another “v” word to vulgar, vile, vitriol-filled video: victimization.

Enough! Let’s get serious here. Let’s pretend that BHO is not a Marxist. Let’s pretend that he isn’t really trying to collapse the economy. Let’s pretend that he really isn’t obsessed with redistribution of wealth.

Even if none of these was true, it still leaves one inconvenient question unanswered: If a president’s only response to an ailing economy is that he inherited it, what does he think he was elected to do – play golf and fly around on Air Force One?

The message in “Obama in Wonderland” is that even though Obama has made things infinitely worse than they were when he took office, the American public should roll the dice and try four more years of the same. Hmm … something about the definition of insanity comes to mind here.

We’re not dealing with politics as usual here. What we’re dealing with is the end of the United States of America.

Unfortunately, I’m out of space, but some day I’ll tell you what I really think about the “Obama in Wonderland” production. For now, however, let it suffice to say that one thing is certainly clear: In the greatest of ironies, Tom Hanks has managed to make Forrest Gump look like a brain surgeon compared to himself.

That said, allow me to add one final “v” to vulgar, vile, vitriol-filled and victimization: vomit. Now, please excuse me while I do just that.
