Airline magazines talk about the latest in electronic gadgets, the fashions in Paris, Chinese innovation and the attractions of much, make that MUCH, travel around the world.
And how to make chloroform.
The last subject has appeared in a 73-page online "Al-Qaida Airlines" magazine compiled from various Internet sources and credited to "Badallah Dhu Al-Bajadin," a known explosives expert on jihadi forums.
A report from the Middle East Media Research Institute notes that Al-Bajadin's real identity is unknown.
MEMRI said it discovered the new "magazine" on one of numerous forums it monitors, including the Shumoukh Al-Islam site, "one of the few top-tier al-Qaida forums."
MEMRI said that on April 7 Shumoukh forum member 'Adnan Shukri' published to the forum the first issue of the magazine by Al-Bajadin, who reportedly has mentored other explosives experts.
MEMRI monitors and translates Middle East media, websites, sermons and books and provides original analysis of political, religious, ideological and other trends in the region.
The magazine is "devoted entirely" to the manufacture at home of chloroform.
"Al-Bajadin says he chose to write about the topic for a number of reasons, including to introduce variety on the forum's military section, which focuses primarily on explosives, and to share knowledge about the chemical's various applications in jihadi operations: manufacturing poisons and deadly gases, assassinating enemy targets, and supplementing explosives."
The magazine notes that "mujahid," or holy warriors, should test the chloroform with a rabbit or a frog, to find out whether the animal "faints or dies."
MEMRI reports Al-Bajadin recommends chloroform "for use in assassination operations for its highly sedative and potentially lethal properties."
