With the furor over the shooting death of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman on Feb. 26, it quickly became clear that a preponderance of black Americans were buying into the narrative proffered by the establishment press, radical activists and far-left politicos. Generally, they believed that the shooting was an act of murder, that Zimmerman was a white racist and that law enforcement was prepared to evade its responsibility in investigating the incident because the victim was black.

It is not my intention to expound further upon this phenomenon, although the dynamics are quite significant. Instead, I’d like to shed light on why so many blacks readily react to racially charged incidents in the way they do and how this is used to further fortify the left’s political influence over black Americans.

Blacks have allowed themselves to be defined by the press, activists, politicians and the entertainment media, who have set themselves up as the final arbiters of racial orthodoxy in America. That definition is one that had its genesis in nothing less than the quintessential stereotype of good-old-time bigots. This stereotype portrays blacks as shiftless, ignorant, nefarious, manifestly incapable of holding on to money and wholly preoccupied with sex. You know why they always got sex on the brain? ‘Cause they have pubic hair on their heads, ha-ha-ha!

This, if one examines the so-called culture that is so vociferously defended by many blacks, is most definitively encapsulated in “thug culture,” which has been legitimized in media and which received a shot in the arm in the aftermath of the Trayvon Martin shooting. Indeed, blacks – particularly young blacks – were even more so encouraged to embrace and flaunt the thug image, if for no other reason than to protest the shooting.

Thug culture in particular holds to belligerence, misogyny and rebellion against any accepted norms and authority – all of these are embraced. If you’re black and you own a business, or wear a suit and hold a job in corporate America, you’re a sellout; yet black multimillionaire entertainers are able to talk the country and capitalism down, and not one among them even recognizes the hypocrisy therein. As with most liberal-socialist logic, the inconsistency of this view knows no bounds, and heaven help the individual who condemns the thug lifestyle as morally ambivalent. Such assertions are (according to the arbiters of racial orthodoxy) tantamount to denying black people their culture, and as such, are racist.

It would certainly be easy for whites to write the majority of blacks off as inherently dense, given the tenacity with which so many cling to a doctrine that plainly harms them, collectively as well as individually. This in itself would be ignorance, since the wretchedness they perceive has been put upon the black community in part by other blacks in positions of trust, and over a long period of time. Then there’s the fact that – as with Americans in the aggregate – liberals have always played to the baser aspects of human nature. Ease, comfort, the sense of entitlement, immaturity and covetousness. We all possess these in varying degrees; it’s only mental and spiritual maturity that are able to overcome them.

In my book, “Negrophilia: From Slave Block to Pedestal – America’s Racial Obsession,” I pointed out that the left took the worst characteristics commonly associated with blacks by bigoted whites and elevated them to being mainstream “black culture.” They continue to do this, as well as working tirelessly to further degrade blacks’ worldview and self-image.

As a result of media manipulation, abysmal role modeling and a dab of greed, young blacks now see people who ought to be in penitentiaries succeeding materially; thus it becomes acceptable to be an amoral swine, because one’s chances are just as good – or better – of realizing the same success as those who have cultivated decent character and worked hard at something other than pimping and selling drugs.

As the reader has likely surmised, this was the desired result. As with any faction of society, blacks who are shiftless, ignorant, nefarious, manifestly incapable of holding on to money and wholly preoccupied with sex are far easier to manipulate than educated, morally grounded ones. This is obviously antithetical to the vision that those who fought for black equality had.

As black Americans strive to live down to this stereotype, race pimps like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will continue to agitate to feather their nests and prolong their relevance. Hardcore haters such as Louis Farrakhan and the New Black Panther Party will help to build things to a fever pitch. It is of no moment whether these men are megalomaniacal, misguided, greedy, or just plain evil. In a practical sense, it doesn’t even matter that they are but pawns in a grander design. They will continue to have a poisonous effect on the minds of black Americans. Failure to recognize this is not only to deny history, but to profoundly reduce one’s chances for surviving what might come to pass in America.

How one proverbially prepares for the worst while hoping for the best is one’s own affair. Cooler heads may prevail depending on where one lives, but it would behoove us to keep in mind that we’re playing for keeps here against people who have embraced among the worst of evils, though many of them aren’t aware of this.

So be it. For my part, I will tell you that in a worst-case scenario, I don’t plan to cut marauding black nationalists any more slack than I would white ones.
