(SACRAMENTO BEE) — The California Senate on Wednesday voted 23-13 to prohibit minors from receiving therapy aimed at changing their sexual orientation.

Senate Bill 1172 by Sen. Ted Lieu, D-Torrance, now heads to the Assembly. Groups representing psychiatrists and psychologists still oppose the measure, but two mental health groups that originally opposed it came on board after Lieu made key changes.
