(Indiana Gazette) Two Seward men have been charged with robbery and aggravated assault after mistaking a Bible for a purse during a robbery last November outside Robin-dale Union Church in East Wheatfield Township, according to court documents.

Christopher Scott Ludwig, 26, was charged in Clymer District Court on May 16, and Ronald Stephenson Jr., 25, was charged Tuesday. Both face counts of aggravated assault, robbery, theft, and simple assault and conspiracy charges.

According to the charging documents, Ludwig and Stephenson determined to commit a robbery for drug money the evening of Nov. 29. They accosted Sharon Baker, who they later described as an “old lady,” around 7 p.m. as she was walking into the church, grabbing the strap to the Bible she was carrying, according to the criminal complaint.
