Talk about an uphill battle!
There’s a new project that proposes to deliver to Congress and members of state legislatures a warning that lawmakers are ignoring God, the nation is doing wrong and America generally is heading down a path to destruction.
A national repentance and return to God is being offered as the solution that might, just might, hold off further national punishment.
Sound like something that politicians would jump aboard?
No matter, according to those who are organizing what is a truly grassroots effort – so far leaders in Oklahoma and Ohio are involved – to have delivered to the national and state leaders a DVD that explains simply that God has allowed certain tragedies to develop, such as the 9/11 attacks and the later financial collapse, to warn America to return to God’s ways.
The warnings are outlined in the new WND Films release “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment.”
It’s a followup to the New York Times best-selling book “The Harbinger” by Jonathan Cahn, which came out earlier this year and provides a stunning documentation of the parallels between the fall of ancient Israel and America’s current tribulations.
The premise of the book and the DVD is that God’s warnings were delivered to Israel to convince the nation to seek a national repentance and return to God. The nation, instead, said it would remember and return, build back and build back better – with or without God.
Israel, of course, ended up as a nation of slaves.
The book and DVD explain how the warnings – nine harbingers that originate with Isaiah 9:10 – now have been delivered to the United States, which stunningly has responded through its leaders with the same words from the Old Testament, that the nation will remember, will rebuild and be stronger than before. In the Old Testament, it was an attack on Israel from the Assyrians. The book explains the attack on America was on 9/11.
Joe Esposito, an Owasso, Okla., man who read the book and was stunned by its message, just weeks ago assembled an effort to deliver to every member of the Oklahoma legislature, the governor and the lieutenant governor a copy of the book.
Out of his own pocket, he bought 152 copies.
“Even if you’re not a Christian,” Esposito said at the time, “I don’t know how anybody can debate or ignore those nine [harbingers described in the book] that are already happening. It’s amazing.”
The book has skyrocketed to the top of the New York Times best-sellers list and in DVD format, it has become the most sought-after DVD in its categories on Amazon.
Now, Esposito said he’s been reaching out to others who may want to deliver the message of Isaiah to their state’s lawmakers, or their representatives in Washington. But, on a virtually non-existent budget, he’s not bothered with a website yet. He has set up an email, HarbingertoUSA@yahoo.com, to allow those who may have an interest to make contact, and they then can be referred to others in their area who also have expressed concern.
“I figured it would start a fire, kind of a wildfire that would go to the rest of the country,” he said.
So, the embers are glowing and there’s smoke, but no towering flames yet.
Enter Pastor Joe Sheely, of Solid Rock Community Church in Salem, Ohio, who also encountered the message and immediately shared it with his church.
Viewers were “totally blown away at the way he [Cahn] connected the dots,” he said.
So he said, “The Lord put it on my heart that everyone in Congress needs to have a copy. They need to know that this is not somebody’s imagination.
“This is God’s fingerprint,” he said.
The two have started discussions, and have launched the HarbingertoUSA@yahoo.com email to see what develops.
Esposito told WND it should be just a matter of making lawmakers understand what’s going on – the warnings, the attacks and everything.
“Three months ago, I didn’t even know this book existed,” said Esposito. “I’m thinking nobody else does either.”
He said not only does it recall to him the days before Israel’s defeat in Isaiah, but also the days on earth before Noah.
“I’m sure everybody went about their daily activities,” he said, “doing all their normal things.”
Then the blow falls.
“The people I normally share this book with, they didn’t know about the book,” he said. “I’m kind of in awe this is even taking place.”
In the Old Testament, Isaiah records that Israel had known God and yet turned away from Him. Following a devastating attack by Assyria, rather than returning to God, the leaders declared “with pride and arrogance of heart” (NIV) a defiant pledge: “The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycamores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars” (Isaiah 9:10 KJV).
“The Harbinger” reveals the startling reality that beginning the day after 9/11, several American leaders began repeating that 2,500-year-old vow, word for word, in speeches across the country.
“Having no idea what he was doing, the majority leader of the U.S. Senate [Tom Daschle] was declaring America as under the judgment of God,” Cahn gives as just one example. “It was the reenactment of an ancient mystery – and bore the most grave of consequences.”
Esposito said he discussed his ideas with Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb.
“He was real grateful for my efforts,” Esposito told WND. “We visited, and I made the comment that it’s important the Legislature comes up with resolution or statement referring to ‘The Harbinger’ and the prayer of 2 Chronicles.”
Esposito also said he was in for a real surprise when he went to distribute the books and discovered someone else had just been there distributing copies of the “Isaiah 9:10″ video.
“There was another young man named Jason who worked in the House,” Esposito told WND. “He had the opportunity to have a prayer meeting or breakfast, but only had a half hour. He took that opportunity to show a shortened version of the ‘Isaiah 9:10′ video, so he could return and distribute the whole video to legislators.
“I gave away the books on a Wednesday; [Jason] had been there on Tuesday passing out few copies of the video,” Esposito continued. “Here I come, I show up next day with the books, and neither of us knew the other existed.”
Just recently, Glenn Beck admitted the book had an impact on him.
"I read a book about three weeks ago that I would like for you to take a look at. ... You come away with the essence of the truth – that God is trying to humble us. There are some great observations in this. ... The point of this book is that we are seeing a repeat of history. I believe this to be true. We are seeing the exact same harbingers that ancient Israel received before its destruction. They are manifesting themselves here now since 9/11. ... God wanted the ancient Israelites to turn back to Him. The book makes a compelling case ... that through our response to 9/11, America is failing to use its chance to turn back to God. Rather, we are repeating the same mistakes over and over again that the Israelites did. Almost exactly...almost word-for-word."
Actually, as documented in "The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment," the mistakes are being made over and over exactly word for word.
As WND reported last week, Barack Obama continued the pattern of American leaders fulfilling biblical prophecy and a curse of judgment on the U.S., as decoded by "The Harbinger" and "The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment."
While Obama was creating a stir in Manhattan with star-studded celebrity fundraisers, he also took a side trip that got less publicity. His official presidential business was a visit to the new World Trade Center building site where he signed a steel girder with a message of interest to the hundreds of thousands who have read "The Harbinger" or seen the video documentary "The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment."
"We remember," Obama wrote. "We rebuild. We come back stronger!"
The book and the video have shocked readers and viewers around the country and the world by showing the eerie and striking parallels between the vows of the leaders of ancient Israel before its judgment and fall and those of American leaders since Sept. 11, 2001.
"What was foreshadowed in 'The Harbinger' and 'The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment' film is now being fulfilled by the president of the United States," said Jonathan Cahn, the messianic rabbi-pastor and author.
It was the second time Obama has ventured into those waters. During an earlier speech, he said, "Tonight I want every American to know this: We will rebuild. And the United States of America will emerge stronger than before."
