BEIRUT, Lebanon – With no new progress in recent talks in Moscow between Iran and the West along with tougher sanctions being implemented by the European Union against Iranian oil exports, Iran has warned that U.S. naval warships could be “easily reached and attacked” if Israel or the United States attacks Iran’s nuclear sites, according to Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.
Recent talks in Moscow that included Britain, China, France, Russia and the U.S. along with Germany – known as the P5+1 who comprise the United Nations Security Council – failed to reach an agreement on Iran’s enrichment program, which the West believes is going to be used to make nuclear weapons.
While Moscow believes progress was made at the latest round of talks, the U.S. and Israel have concluded that diplomacy has run its course, which raises considerably the military option to be used by the West against Iran’s nuclear facilities.
As a consequence, high-level Iranian military officials ratcheted up the tempo of threatening rhetoric over the previous weekend against the United States and Israel.
The warning against U.S. warships that patrol the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz came from General Morteza Miriyan, the deputy lieutenant commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Ground Force for Operations.
He said more than 3,000 boats and dhows are trafficking, fishing and doing trade in the regional waters, and “they always go past the U.S. military ships from close distances."
"Now, the question is, how does the U.S. want to fight with us, while we enjoy such a backup?”
He said that Iran “enjoys the needed capability to have tough and serious confrontation against enemy threats at all levels and make them regret for their aggressive act."
“Iran’s enemies are much more vulnerable today than ever because regional uprisings have been waged under the impression and inspirations of the Iranian Islamic Revolution, and this has caused poplar support for the Islamic Republic in the region,” he said.
