In reply to Ernie Bursey’s email to the editor, “What Obama meant”:

In a speech given on July 2, 2011, Obama said: “We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

Obama is unambiguous as to his true intentions, isn’t he? While referencing AmeriCorps, the Peace Corps and USA Freedom Corps in that speech, Obama clearly has a transmogrification of those volunteer agencies in mind. After all, this is Obama talking, the tinpot tyrant lusting for the unholy orders of despotism. Obama’s dictatorial bent and his authoritarian agenda are as plain as day. But most liberals and Obama defenders share the blind spot. Why? It’s because liberals are disposed (and/or indoctrinated) to trust big government; conservatives (excluding neocons, who are anathema) know better.

It is is for good reason conservatives and libertarians trust big government no more than anyone would trust a coiled rattling snake. “My reading of history convinces me that most bad government has grown out of too much government,” said Democrat John Sharp Williams, who served in politics (1893-1923) as House minority leader and U.S. senator.

Be careful what you wish. A tyrannical police surveillance state is built on the back of big government and is no paradise for liberals. Learn what Hitler, Stalin and Mao Zedong did to the press and media, teachers and professors, lawyers, poets, writers, creative artists et al. Tyrants know the intelligentsia can pose a threat to their authority, and so are among the first to go. Many of them ended up in prisons, wholesale graves, collective farms, or concentration camps. Is that what big-government worshipers want? Just keep growing government, and you’ll find that your utopia is another word for hell.
