Pat Buchanan says it is past time to come home, and truer words were never spoken. How many more years will it take for us to realize that none of these Muslim nations in the Mideast are anywhere near ready to become a democracy or a republic, nor do they want to pattern their countries after America. The more money we spend and the more lives lost, the more they hate us and resent our being there. If we spent 40 years in Afghanistan, the minute we’d leave, they would revert right back to the Taliban calling the shots. You can’t help people like that.
Bring them all home. Cut off all U.S. aid to every single Arab nation and let them take care of their own problems. Keep our noses out of the Mideast. We should have learned by now that we can’t buy their friendship.
But first, our top priority has to be to become oil independent, and we can do that if the environmentalists leave us alone. Put in that pipeline from Canada to our southern border, and drill, drill, drill for oil and gas. We can do it!
