In the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, the flaws in our intelligence system were greatly scrutinized.
Peter Hoekstra is the GOP nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan against incumbent Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich. He’s also the
former House Intelligence Committee chairman.
Hoekstra says our intelligence is far better and America much safer thanks to the renewed focus on human intelligence and not just a reliance on superior technology.
“I would continue to push for investment in human resources. I would continue to press for enhanced capabilities from a technological standpoint,” Hoekstra told WND.
Hoekstra also details the ongoing challenge of protecting our nation from radical threats within our borders.
“That threat’s not going to go away. It’s going to stay here.”
He discusses the intensifying fight over big looming cuts to defense and intelligence spending and what national security issues would have his attention if elected.
