In a move he calls the biggest of his radio career, Michael Savage returns to the airwaves Tuesday night with a new syndicator that will expand the reach of his popular show and place him in a new time slot he believes is a better fit for his style.
“The Savage Nation,” which formerly aired on the Talk Radio Network from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday, will begin airing from 9 p.m. to midnight, Eastern, via Cumulus Media Networks.
“The later show is better for a guy like me who likes to tell stories and develop an idea,” Savage told WND.
He cited surveys showing the late-night audience listens longer and is generally more affluent. The listeners also tend to be people who work regular hours and can’t listen to daytime talk radio.
“These are people who would rather listen to a thoughtful and entertaining radio show as opposed to watching TV,” said Savage, who has summed up his political philosophy as “borders, language, culture.”
As WND reported, Savage won a federal lawsuit against his syndicator, Talk Radio Network, via arbitration.
Just days after he ended his relationship with TRN, WND reported, his “Savage Nation” was ranked the No. 1 talk-radio show on the Internet for the third quarter.
Savage told WND he’s pleased his show will return to KSFO in San Francisco, his flagship, where he began in radio 17 years ago.
“I helped build that station,” he told WND. “It’s an amazing turn of events. I don’t think people thought I would be back on it.”
Savage noted that with a change in ownership, from Disney to Cumulus, KSFO is more interested in the quality of the show than its political orientation.
Regardless of who wins the presidential election, there will be plenty to do, he said.
If it’s Obama, Savage said, America will face a socialist nightmare, as he warned in his bestselling book “Trickle Down Tyranny: Crushing Obama’s Dream of the Socialist States of America.”
He described Romney as a “middle of the road Republican.
If Romney wins, he said, “We’ll have a lot to work to do to drive him to conservative side.”
As WND reported, Savage has signed a deal with St. Martin’s Press for two new fiction thrillers.
His previous novel, “Abuse of Power,” was a New York Times bestseller last year.
His next fiction book, “Time for War,” will be released in February. The new books are tentatively scheduled for 2014 and 2015.
Savage’s next non-fiction book is “Train Tracks: Family Stories for the Holidays,” scheduled for release Nov. 6.
Savage has written six non-fiction New York Times best-sellers among his 28 books. They include “Trickle Down Tyranny,” “Trickle Up Poverty: Stopping Obama’s Attack on Our Borders, Economy, and Security,” “The Savage Nation,” The Enemy Within,” “Liberalism is a Mental Disorder,” “Political Zoo,” “Psychological Nudity: Savage Radio Stories” and “Banned in Britain.”
He was awarded the coveted Freedom of Speech Award by Talkers Magazine and earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley.
