Michael Savage returns to air next week

“The Savage Nation” will return to the air via Cumulus Media Networks Oct. 23, Michael Savage’s new syndicator announced today.

The show, formerly in the 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern time slot, now will air from 9 p.m. to midnight Eastern, Monday through Friday, Cumulus said.

“Cumulus and Savage will make radio history,” Savage said. “The turbulent times we live in give talk radio a new power. This is the biggest move of my radio career, and I look forward to reaching many millions of new listeners on their flamethrower signals.”

Savage is the author of 28 books, including six New York Times bestsellers. He was awarded the coveted Freedom of Speech Award by Talkers Magazine and earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley.

John Dickey, co-chief operating officer of Cumulus, said that as his network “aggressively create radio’s most compelling mix of show hosts, the addition of Michael Savage is a milestone in our determined efforts to provide our listeners nationwide with the best programing in the business.”

Cumulus Media calls itself the largest pure-play radio broadcaster in the United States, with approximately 525 stations in 110 markets.

As WND reported, Savage announced Sept. 27 he won his federal lawsuit against his syndicator, Talk Radio Network, via arbitration, which makes him a free agent.

The arbitration panel awarded Savage more than $900,000 and ordered TRN to turn over to him all archived tapes and other recordings of his show.

Just days after he ended his relationship with TRN, WND reported, his “Savage Nation” was ranked the No. 1 talk-radio show on the Internet for the third quarter.

After consistently winning the No. 2 spot, Savage surpassed Rush Limbaugh on the Internet, according to TalkStreamLive.com.

“We have watched Michael consistently grow his audience over the last several quarters,” TalkStreamLive.com said in its report of the top 25 shows on the ‘Net. “All of his numbers are way up, especially via mobile and social radio.”

The survey period was July to Sept. 27.

TalkStreamLive.com said all of the metrics collected to produce its top 25 report are via Internet streaming through its new cloud-based server, gadgets, iPhone app and “click-to-listen” links via social networks.
