(THE BLAZE) On Sunday evening, FOX’s pre-election episode of “The Simpsons” got political. Rather than sitting out of the 2012 presidential race, the edgy cartoon decided to join the majority of Hollywood in spouting anti-Republican messaging and themes. Aside from taking aim at candidate Mitt Romney and the Mormon faith, the show tackled “death panels” and voter identification laws.
In a highly-controversial scene, Homer Simpson arrived at a polling place, where a white man with a cowboy hat asked to see photo identification. ”Stopping all Americans from voting is for the protection of all Americans,” the man proclaimed. But once Homer explained that he is a “40-year-old white guy who didn’t go to college” and that he gets all of his news from monitors at gas stations, the poll worker let him in to vote.
“I’ve already got one wife telling me to eat healthy. Plus, he promised me death panels and grandpa’s still alive,” he said of Obama.
