(DAILYMAIL) — These desolate images chart the crumbling camera film industry in the face of an increasingly digital world.

The images were taken by photographer and lecturer Robert Burley, whose project has taken him around the world.

He captured the 2007 demolition of the Kodak buildings in Rochester, New York along with empty dark rooms and abandoned chemical mixing plants in factories from Canada to France. The photographs were shot on a powerful 4×5 field camera.

Mr Burley said: ‘When I looked into the crowds in front of my view camera, I saw an array of digital devices – cell phones, camcorders, and cameras – capturing a final ”Kodak moment.”’
