How 'bout the FSA?

With the recent talk of secession, I wonder if a description of “Flyover State of America” (FSA) and its viability would make the discussion more realistic to those who might contemplate it.
I suspect that over 30 states (including Alaska) might ultimately join. Those that wouldn’t join (Northeast and mid-Atlantic states, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois and the West Coast would be in the minority. Oil, agriculture, manufacturing and most of the technology centers would remain within the FSA. I suspect that southern Ohio, Illinois and California (around San Diego) would wish to be part of the FSA, too, leaving Chicago, Toledo and Cleveland within the old USA if forced to decide.
Realizing a new nation could have a true constitutional government with new federal officers and judges, it might generate more discussion and interest.
