WASHINGTON – George Escobar, a 25-year media veteran and co-founder of Advent Film Group and the director of the No. 1 bestselling “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment,” is joining WND as vice president of WND Films beginning next week.

Escobar will be responsible for online content production, programming and strategy. Under the leadership and guidance of WND founders, Joseph and Elizabeth Farah, Escobar will help extend WND’s brand as America’s independent news network onto online video.

“For 15 years, WND has led and pioneered online news reporting. WND is truly independent, serving as a vanguard of new media and the best watchdog over government,” Escobar said. “That’s why I was drawn to WND. The quality and reach of WND reporters and authors remains unparalleled in the business. No other book publisher in America has created a higher percentage of New York Times bestsellers over the past decade. They have also broken more significant stories than any other news outfit.”

While practically every news organization now offers video content, most are content aggregators of syndicated news. They provide very little or no original news content. On the other hand, major television news outlets are confined to serving only their in-house content, lest they promote their competition.

“WND will be offering a powerful combination that no other news organization is providing: original content by WND’s top reporters and authors, aggregated/syndicated content accompanied by WND news commentaries and analysis, curated expert audience feedback, and teaching tools and programs for culture makers and high information consumers,” said Escobar. (WND’s first teaching offering, “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment,” documentary dominated Amazon’s Faith and Spirituality DVD sales, holding the No. 1 spot for 35 weeks.)

Escobar is co-founder of Advent Film Group, a film and distribution company based in Northern Virginia. Advent’s first movie, “Come What May,” was seen by over 3 million people and reached No. 5 in CBA’s Top Ten DVD list. Escobar has produced new films, coming soon in 2013: “Hero” and “The Screenwriters.” He also served as co-writer, co-director/producer of “Alone Yet Not Alone” for Enthuse Entertainment.

In his 25-year media career, Escobar has worked for top executives in the industry including Howard Stringer – former Sony CEO, Sandy Grushow and David Grant, both from Fox Network, Kit Laybourne, TELE-TV senior vice president, and Kim Friedman, veteran TV director. Most recently Escobar was vice president of product development for Discovery, executive director for AOL/Time Warner, and is a former Producing Fellow from the American Film Institute Conservatory. He holds seven U.S. patents in technology and user-interface design.

Escobar and his wife have homeschooled their three sons from K-12. Escobar is a regular film workshop and keynote speaker at homeschool and professional conferences. In five years, Escobar has taught filmmaking to over 1,000 students through workshops, webinars, and internships.

“Elizabeth and I have known George as a friend and colleague for many years,” said Joseph Farah. “It’s just such an honor to have this extremely talented artist with us as a full-time member of the WND team.”
