Levi's 'detoxes' after Greenpeace protest

(SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE) As fashion looks go, it was dramatic.

Knee-high clouds of faux hazardous effluent enveloped Greenpeace protesters as they modeled Levi’s clothing at the company’s Battery Street headquarters.

That was the morning of Dec. 12. Within 24 hours, Greenpeace and Levi Strauss were announcing that the San Francisco company would stop releasing any hazardous chemicals in its manufacturing processes by Jan. 1, 2020, and disclose all releases of toxic chemicals from their facilities to communities at the site of water pollution.
