Lieberman endorses term limits for senators

(THE HILL) — Retiring Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said in an interview that aired Sunday he favored both term limits for senators and replacing the Electoral College with a national popular vote.

Lieberman, a four-term senator who is leaving the Senate at the end of his term, said instituting term limits would make the upper chamber “healthier.”

“My position on this has changed. Some say there are term limits for senators every six years and it is up to voters to decide. When I started here, I was 99th in seniority, and now I am 20th, so it does change, but needs to change more often,” Lieberman told WFSB-TV.
