Joseph: Love your articles, keep up the good fight.

The picture of the Israeli teacher strikes a chord with me [“How to stop the slaughter of the innocents”].

American teachers lack the kill instinct. For many of them, there are not enough hours of training to develop the necessary reaction. The solution? Retired military.

The “Troops to Teachers” program already exists. The goal is to put people who have been mentors into the classroom for their second career. We should embrace this program, and arm them!

Consider this: Teachers are underpaid, and it’s difficult to recruit. But a military retiree is under 40 and receiving a retirement check. Combined with a teacher’s salary, and you have a comfortable income. We should be putting these men and women into the classroom … and armed!
