Dear Joseph:

I want to suggest that charging a woman teacher with a sex crime for having sex with a 17-year-old student is being in denial of biology! ["Woman, 34, charged with sexual battery"] This is not to say I approve of a woman teacher having sexual contact outside marriage, because I do not. However, the risk to that teenage boy is not the same as if the genders were reversed. In fact it is called cougar hunting by the teenage boys and a real trophy on your belt to score with the teacher. (That is reality.)

As a Christian I know it is a sin, but the human nature is to be sinful. and being unrealistic and idealistic and blind to the differences in the sexes is counter productive and a waste of the court’s time.

The answer is simple: You do this and you lose your teaching privileges for life. That is quite an economic punishment in it self.
