Chuck Norris throws weight behind this candidate

Just days before Israel’s Jan. 22 parliamentary elections, U.S. action star Chuck Norris is urging Israeli voters to re-elect “tough guy” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“Shalom, this is Chuck Norris,” he begins. “With the elections just days away, Israel has an important decision to make, so let me tell you what Chuck would do. You might think I’m a tough guy in my films, but in a rough neighborhood like the Middle East, Israel has its own tough guy. His name is Bibi Netanyahu.
“Bibi brought the pressing issue of Israel’s security to the world, speaking loudly and clearly at the United Nations and in Congress, bringing the world together to put sanctions on Iran. He has raised a wall along the whole southern border of Israel, stopped the missiles raining on Israel and showed Hamas it will not be tolerated.
“He also made the bravest decision in securing the release of Gilad Shalit (former Israeli soldier and Hamas hostage), so vote for Benjamin Netanyahu, because a strong prime minister is a strong Israel. I’m Chuck Norris, and I endorse this message and Benjamin Netanyahu, your strong prime minister. ”
Norris’ endorsement comes on the heels of a similar endorsement by real-estate mogul Donald Trump and President Obama’s reported criticism of Netanyahu.
“I’m a big fan of Israel,” Trump declared in his endorsement video. “A strong prime minister is a strong Israel. And you truly have a great prime minister in Benjamin Netanyahu. There’s nobody like him. He’s a winner. He’s highly respected. He’s highly thought of by all. And people really do have great, great respect for what’s happened in Israel.
“So vote for Benjamin, terrific guy, terrific leader, great for Israel.”
However, President Obama – who has a notoriously contentious relationship with Netanyahu – reportedly disagrees with Norris and Trump.
In his Bloomberg View column this week, Jeffrey Goldberg revealed that Obama repeatedly told his aides behind closed doors, “Israel doesn’t know what its own best interests are.”
Goldberg continued, “On matters related to the Palestinians, the president seems to view the prime minister as a political coward, an essentially unchallenged leader who nevertheless is unwilling to lead or spend political capital to advance the cause of compromise.”
During the 2012 presidential election, Netanyahu openly endorsed Obama’s rival, Mitt Romney, for president. In fact, Israeli Jews overwhelmingly favored Romney by 57 to 22 percent, according to an October poll from the Israel Democracy Institute and Tel Aviv University. (However, Arab Israelis preferred Obama, 45 percent, over Romney, 15 percent.)
WND also reported in 2011 when Netanyahu’s much-anticipated speech to a joint session of Congress was disrupted by a protester from an antiwar group tied to Obama.
In 2010, Americans reportedly sent nearly 10,000 yellow roses to Netanyahu as a sign of friendship after Obama walked out on him and the Israeli delegation.
Included in each dozen roses was a card that read, “Dear Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: Be encouraged, Americans stand with you. God bless you.”
